£30k for the FRS!!

Not likeley to sell at that price are they?

different class cars ltd : NEW SHAPE RS FORD FOCUS FROZEN WHITE FULLY LOADED

TX.

MrRA 22 February 2009 12:46 AM

I beg to differ. That example has every option possible by the looks of it. They are £25k in standard trim.

The plant at Saarlouis which is building them is going to run at double capacity for a bit just to satisfy the first batch of orders, and Ford have taken plenty.

Volks 22 February 2009 09:17 AM

Some people will happily pay £30K for a MINI, I`m sure this car will sell to the right kind of buyers.

beef-on-the-bone 22 February 2009 12:35 PM

someone will always pay it.............

Terminator X 22 February 2009 02:16 PM

Even today though ie credit crunch time? I doubt that even new Scoobs are selling at £30k ...

TX.

ScoobyJawa 22 February 2009 04:16 PM

Even today, its a sought after car and theres loads on order!

Including mine, Frozen white, part leather and bluetooth. Will be an awesome car.

Jamescsti 22 February 2009 05:57 PM

I believe there's a waiting list?

Someone will pay a premium to jump the waiting list

J4CKO 22 February 2009 08:29 PM

Looks like Ford have played a blinder judging by the reviews !

300 bhp through the front wheels and it works, 25 grand doesnt seem bad, is the 30k speculation ?

Terminator X 22 February 2009 08:37 PM

4nr on P/Heads at £27.5k+ incl one at £31k! It's a nice looking car but £30k's worth :wonder:

TX.

Dream Weaver 23 February 2009 12:03 PM

Is £30k much for a car of this spec these days though?

I don't think it is. I would rather pay £30k for an FRS than an ugly STI or ugly Evo.

wrx287 23 February 2009 12:08 PM

I think it will sell for that. Looks 100% better than the Impreza hatch.

stuart2008sti 23 February 2009 10:01 PM

But performs -100% eg wet roads, tyres low, tiring over long haul. makeover on the mk 1 and we all know what that was like:)

Not according to the reviews. ;)

You 4wd boys need to get over the wet/twisties nonsense now :D

bugeyeandy 23 February 2009 10:13 PM

It'd be a struggle to spec it up to £30k even with all the options.

They are having a laugh with the paint though £695 for the Ultimate Green and £395 for the Performance Blue. At least the white is a no cost option.

I spoke to my mate, who works for ford, over christmas and he said there's around 9000 on order. If your name's not on the list you'll have to wait until next March, so he said anyway....

stuart2008sti 23 February 2009 10:59 PM

Not according to the reviews

Dont listen to the reviews drive one first comment later. The same hype as the mk 1 and that was all over the place which gave you no confidence to push on.
Will be better than st,type r ,vxr, but not as quick as the sti will be on par with the wrx s.

Your mate is either talking cr*p or is ill informed.

Phoned up my local dealer yesterday, and I can get one to my spec for July/August this year.

Lewis! 24 February 2009 09:21 AM

the reviews i have seen have been on smooth roads in monte carlo (5th gear) and another one who drive the car on a flat airfield. the mk1 rs would have been fine in those conditions, it is on typical uk roads where the mk1 struggled, and we are yet to see how the mk2 performs on those same roads

Even with that it still depreciates lower than other cars.

I think if they keep the numbers down and don't pull a 'clio williams' :D then the car will hold value. In this climate though if they sell at that price they will make $hitloads of em!

talizman 24 February 2009 10:27 AM

I wouldn't have a problem paying £30k for the FRS, particularily when you consider that the Escort Cosworth was around £26k, 16 years ago!

I disagree.

T4molie 24 February 2009 03:29 PM

Looks awesome in white  but alas I don't have 30k to play with :(

Hate to say it but to me the FRS is a lot more desirable than any current model Scoob - even the 330.

stuart2008sti 24 February 2009 03:44 PM

You disagree

so it will not be better than the st,type r ,vxr.:)

When all roads are dry and straight, I'll get over the reviews. Here's the conclusion from last weekend's Sunday Times:

"The condition (torque steer) becomes much worse on irregular road surfaces. Pull out to overtake while accelerating hard, and the Focus may dart out more quickly than you anticipated. Accelerate hard in a straight line, and the wheel will squirm in your hands, assuming a dead, stodgy feel. The sensation is not appealing and the reason why most really serious sporting cars with this much power are either rear-wheel-drive, or four-wheel-drive. It is a shame, because the Focus has inherently fine road-holding, handling and fabulous brakes, spoilt by more power than it can comfortably take.

"Changing gear is boring too, the gear lever lacking a short, crisp movement that smacks of a true competition-bred car.

"For those reasons, if you are in search of the definitive driving experience, this is not it. The new RS may be “WRC inspired” and cost £19,995, but the lack of four-wheel-drive means it falls a long way short of the real thing. Subaru and Mitsubishi get much closer to their works competition cars with the more expensive four-wheel-drive Impreza and Evo families."

ScoobyJawa 24 February 2009 04:07 PM

I guess thats referring to the old RS then since the new one costs 25k not 20k?

Dream Weaver 24 February 2009 04:11 PM

That is for the old RS. :D

You and I know that TS doesn't exist in our descent spec ST's and its doubtful the RS will have any TS problems as well, so I guess we should just leave it at that.

ScoobyJawa 24 February 2009 04:13 PM

Guess so mate, what would we know ;) :D

Matteeboy 24 February 2009 04:47 PM

The old RS is more "floored" than a branch of Wickes.
