Samsung SM2433BW 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor?

Looking at getting this or the Iiyama E2407HDS. The latter seems very popular and out of stock everywhere .... Any thoughts on the Samsung?

I've got two Sumsungs (a 20" and a 24") attatched to my pc at home. Had them both well over a year, and they have been excellent :)

I've just ordered one.

Specs look mint.

Getting it from ebuyer

Ah! I wondered what the difference was between them. Height adjust would be excellant.

Tempted, I still miss the 1200lines that my old Hitachi CRT had.

Think I'm holding out for a IPS type LCD panel for the colour accuracy. Most 24" IPS panels are still over £400 when compared to TN types which are now can be had for £200, so I might have to wait a bit...:(

Just learnt about TN and IPS panels whilst looking for a new monitor. It's amazing how I'll be able to enlighten my mates from now on ...........

i think mine is a TN panel, and my photographic editing is just fine.

yes the other panels are better with greater colour depth, but SLRs have better screen gamuts than monitors, so get it right in camera and don't blame monitors... and save 200 quid for an xbox ;)

Could someone do me a HUGE favour and measure the height from the base to the top of the 24" Samsung? i.e. the full height when in place.

I have a 22" at the moment and have been tempted by the 24" (280GTX gives me the ability to enjoy the pixels) but I'm not sure it would fit on my desk.

john_s 13 February 2009 01:41 PM

Can't do it at the moment... will do when I get home though, unless someone else has in the meantime.

Kieran_Burns 13 February 2009 02:16 PM

Cheers John :)

443mm from the desk to the top of the monitor.

That's with it set at the height it came out of the box; haven't tried adjusting it yet.

Kieran_Burns 13 February 2009 06:56 PM

Holy Hell!!!

I have 445mm available!

Tell a lie 444.....

Errrrrrmmmmm...........

Got his one. Ordered it from Play.com on Friday 13th ..... Turned up midday today (Monday). £209.99 delivered - about the same price as my Iilayma 17" LCD I bought 5 years ago or so ....

Just plugged it in, adjusted the resolution to the requisite 1920x1200 and Bob's my Uncle ...... :luxhello:

With the stand at max. height (as far as I can tell) the top of the screen is 535mm off the table - in landscape mode anyway - haven't tried it in portrait yet .....

Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with all the extra screen real estate .... though looking at digital photos shows up so much more detail when you don't have to pan around a lot or see them at lower resolution.

Recommended so far .....:thumb:
