External Hard drive question PC-Mac
Would my External WD hard drive full of movies work on a Mac Book??? And would the movies play?
|
Thats a very vague question. The files will play if you have the right player/codec and whether it will 'work' (defined as transfer data quickly enough) depends on the interface available on the Mac Book and onthe external drive.

The drive is probably formatted as either FAT32 or NTFS. OS X will mount drives of both formats, however, if it's NTFS, it will be read-only, so you won't be able to copy anything to the drive when it's mounted on a mac. There are products out there that do allow this though.
As for the movies playing, it's possible they might. I'd certainly suggest downloading the free VLC video player as that can play most things. You could also look at the Flip4Mac software, which allows QuickTime to play Windows Media Files. |
Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime components is working great for me, I hardly need VLC any more.

The hard drive is NTFS (i think).
So when i get my mac i will just download VLC and most of the movies should work (.avi, divex, etc etc) |
