House of Fraser, Iceland, and more now in the balance.
Sounds like a few more big names are at risk in the recession.
All owned by a big investment company they say. Icelandic Retail Group Baugur Owner Of Karen Millen House Of Fraser On Brink Of Administration | Business | Sky News |
Can't see how House of Fraser are in trouble. The store in Darlington is always packed.
Every other store I've been in is always busy too. |
I said House of Fraser were going down a few months ago before they announced anything.
Obvious - they have aquired other brands like Beaties using short term finance that they now cannot service or re-finance. |
Its not House of Fraser itself that's the problem (apparently) its Bauger, which has a significant stake in it.
|
Yeah, they financed loads of expansion, takeovers etc that they not cannot pay for!
|
Stores including Hamleys!! Blimey.
They are suggesting that restructuring etc could hopefully see all remain in place. |
It would be a BIG blow to love HOF.
It's my favourite dept store and a cut above John Lewis. (apart from electrical items) |
Very few if any of those companies will shut. It is a case that Baugur will have to sell their part ownership in those companies as the sale of such assets will fund the debts they need to clear.
