Just heard the newsreporter saying that statement with respect to road salt stores being depleted

The lack of knowledge in the media these days is frightening. These howlers from a subject about which I know little.

wrt the transfer window, some team has signed a player from Ache Athens :rolleyes: according to the radio this morning. And even I know that the Spurs goalie is not called Gnomes, poor use of the auto spellchecker I suspect.

It might even sound roughly correct if he had swapped the second two words' positions.

'Quickly growing smaller' sounds much better but, by default if this is more correct then 'Growing smaller quickly' is the better option as Les points out. :D

Rapidly Diminishing?

Or are multi-syllable words too much for the average reporter to swallow?

"Blisteringly cold" was used tonight :confused: Like freezing hot I suppose :(
