what bhp am i roughly running?

i have a 2.5 ltr wrx mods- 3" turbo back exhaust, up pipe, un-equal length headers, sti intercooler, k&n panel filter with fog light intake running 2 it, hks ssqv dump valve, ecutek remap just put boost gauge in and its near touching 1.4 bar.

any one got rough idea what bhp could be putting out?

About 280bhp would be my guess, maybe a little more.

Dump valve won't help power mind, just adds 50bhp worth of noise!

don't know much about the 2.5's, but would have thought over 330.

Henrik 12 December 2008 11:44 AM

if it's still on the td04 then under 300bhp, for sure :)

sponners 12 December 2008 01:03 PM

they put td04's on 2.5's???

......bxllends.

With a good choice of fuel, a decat and a remap you can see these produce peak numbers on the right side of 300bhp and 360ftlbs

EX-ACT-LY!

Be aware of course that the 2.5 TD04's have a larger wastegate orifice than thsoe fitted to 2.0's and hence suffer a little less back pressure at the top end.

ok thanks lads for your opinions does feel like a good 300 bhp and over 300 torque

Mus 12 December 2008 04:49 PM

go to a rolling road peace of mind

dynamix 13 December 2008 11:00 AM

These just run out of puff at anything over 5000 rpm. Get a bigger turbo - the VF43 from the STi 2.5 is a good upgrade and will see a lot more top end out of it.

I would have thought 280 would be about right but get it on the rollers to find out - forum speculation is worth nothing.

well said

had it on rollers and it done 271 bhp and 340 torque and is boosting a 1.4 bar

escott 17 December 2008 12:16 AM

Sounds about right, you can get great torque figures without too much work on the 2.5. Bhp similar to a 2.0 with the same modifications.

Maybe would have expected a few more bhp but this varies between cars. Who mapped it?

Boro 17 December 2008 12:20 AM

What fuel you running with it?

uk300scoob 17 December 2008 06:21 PM

its running on bp ultimate and its an ecutek remap by bob ralwe but the rolling road it was on has been known to be out by a good bit with figures

dynamix 17 December 2008 09:06 PM

Where was it dyno'd?

Vpower or Tesco 99 may have helped get a few extra hp.

uk300scoob 18 December 2008 12:24 AM

im from northern ireland so cant get tesco 99 where i live if they did id be using it n the shell super unleaded here isnt any better than the bp ultimate iv tryed both.

Don't say that, forum speculation is my reason for logging in every day.

[Heads back to Wikipedia in a sulk].

Normally the OP never goes on a dyno, and they get upset when their long list of modifications gets assigned a low bhp from the forum posts but then someone posts up 426bhp and they go away happy that they have a figure to chat down the pub with.

UK300 - I thought they did a tesco 5% bioethanol over there which is the same as our 99

dan83590 18 December 2008 09:06 AM

With those mod's I'd say around 426bhp.

uk300scoob 18 December 2008 01:53 PM

they may do it down south over here but up north i havnt seen the tesco 99 any where il have to look into it. cheers
