Which sat nav?
Im on the lookout for a new sat nav as mine is like 400 years old (navman 510)
Im useless at getting from A-B without one so it needs to be decent but not mega expensive - budget is about £250 max I like the look of tom tom 730T as it has IQ routes and advanced lane guidence and has europe maps TomTom GO 730T Satellite Navigation System: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo anyone got one or sugest another must be able to put my own POI on like speed cameras etc |
You can't go wrong with Tom Tom and are the best IMHO
|
Come on someone must own one :brickwall
|
I have a 530 there basically there same bar a few thingsand there brilliant, I've been working in center of London all week and perfect.
I've always had tomtom and swear by them |
i ve got a garmin 760, really good unit, light weight, big screen, euro maps, bluetooth, speed cameras, paid about £200 for it.
like most of these are now, simple and very similar to use. |
Not got 730 but rate TomTom again
currently have Nav n Go iGO8 on my phone which is good (speed limits etc) but routing wise tomtom is better |
Tom tom are the best by far. Used the companies navman in the week to get to Chichester and it was shockingly bad.
|
I always liked my old navman but its well out of date and there new S series are a bit iffy as you have limited POI just found my old recept for my navman 510 £301.80  3 years ago
defo going for the tom tom will compare the 530T with the 730T I think both units have the same features apart from more memory and europe maps on the 730T thanks guys :) |
what ever happened to good old map reading :wonder: :lol1:
|
We got lazy :brickwall and they dont shout out when a speed camera is approching also they dont put on stupid voices with lisps :lol1:
|

Also get map share which is good, also you can change your pointer to a subaru, and boot up screen little gimmick but I love it |
Get a Garmin, TomTom is like what a Ford is to a BMW
|
tomtom far superior IMO

was wondering is the 530t the same as the 730t apart from the europe maps? |
Garmin any day.Even though I never go to PC World ,I was told they had Garmin's on offer ,but not on display, as Garmin don't supply them with display stands,so went along and yes they had them in the backroom, and bought one that retailed at £180 for £79.99 with Europe and traffic alerts,a bargain. We used it all over Italy for two weeks and was spot on .

Agreed :thumb: Just one thing. When he says "After 800 yards, take the exit", it's only 200 yards in reality. Anyhoo, I am used to his wrong distance measuring by now. :D |
which sat nav is good around the £100 price??
|
It is one of the Tom Toms, isn't it? I bought mine for £140-ish, but now they are much cheaper. Halfords and Argos are selling them quite reasnably, I think. Some have mentioned Aldi too.
|
i have the Indago Snooper and have not had a problem with it in the few years i have used it :thumb:
|
Been a TomTom fan for years - still haven't found any unit to better them. I currently have a 720 and a One - both are very good (the One is a little slow, but then it is a much smaller unit). If I was buying a new one today, I would go for the 730 - it will do everything you want.
Chris |
its expensive at £299 though.
|
iq mapping is crap, it still sends you some really stupid routes, but the extras you get with it are good. its easy enough to use and its still got all the good features of the previous models. I got it at £235 about 3 months ago. buy yourself a good paper map to go with it and use it with the tomtom, check your route first and then put it in the tomtom :)

Well took the plunge got the Tom tom 730T for £230 delivered brand new - had me worried as plugged it into the home dock and it said I was entitled to a map update free (new map came out yesterday:luxhello: )
Anyway after a while it downloaded and installed then the unit said no maps found  after a bit of a fiddle it decided to work and so far so good - nice bit of kit - the traffic thing also seems to work fine and picks up signal very quick Just need a case now dont fancy paying £12.99 though for a propper one :brickwall |
