Sky HD charges
Hi was told by a bloke in Comet that sky will be dropping the monthly £10 charge for there HD channels. I phoned Sky up but they told me they couldent say one way or the other. Anyone on here know anything?
|
They're dropping it soon, for a christmas offer and then it will stay dropped in the new year.
|
Cool, think it might be HD time for us then. :)
|
Wondering if i should wait then,? Wonder if the box itself will stay at £75 pounds though?
|
Yeah the box is still gonna be £75. HD will be free if you have a full package of other stuff.
|
Thanks for the reply, sounds like you are in the know.Any idea when the new deal will start?
|
If they drop the charge I will be on it like a rash :)

I know how to spell their ;), and that the correct word is its :smug:

Just had mine fitted today. £49 for the box and fitting... £5 a month HD MIX :D
|
Following the thread the other day, I rang Sky and said I was going to cancel.
I got the box for £49, installation for £20 and £5 per month for 6 months. I also got Multiroom installation for free. Would be cool if they drop the £10 before I come off my discount rate. |
Well, I too have just got sh1tty with Sky. Actually had an upgrade path as a result of introducing a friend. £75....
Told them I wasn't overly chuffed about being told one thing and then seeing this thread (I've told them to look here too!) and that I wanted to leave as I'd lost faith in the company's communication! They offered me the box for £49 + £20 install. No change in monthly price though, nor free multiroom. Asked them again about the subscription change - he couldn't comment ;) but it seemed like a fair chance due to the history of subscription reductions!! lol!! I did say that why does it have to come to my nearly cancelling (and in all seriousness, I was going to do so) to get the better deal  Couldn't really answer that. Still, all sorted now. |
I watched Star Wars: The Clones Wars on Sky Anytime in HD today and the picture quality was amazing compared to the same SD broadcast. Whatever deal you can get, it'll be worth it! :thumb:

I've been a customer for years- and an early adopter; sky digital, sky plus, sky HD- all on pretty much the first day they came out. We have the full package on two boxes. Think I'm paying about £65 a month.
I rang a couple of weeks ago to cancel, and was basically told 'ok'. Not quite what I expected... |
I actually work for Sky as a Retail Agent and was briefed 2weeks ago on the whole HD plan. I can defo tell you they do not have any intention of dropping the £10 but are planning on giving the customer a hell of alot more for that £10 extra.
PS. My Sky+HD is coming today.:D I cannot wait till Battlestar Galactica starts back in January! |

I wonder what it costs them to obtain each new customer- advertising revenue etc. I once read that Orange quoted their spend per each new customer was £800 or something bizarre.
I'm surprised at how easily Sky let people leave- unless they're just wise to us 'threatening' and know the closest alternative is some way behind. |
