Thier whatever colour you paint them, all the same, but red is the best!!

I used halfords vht enamel, cost £6 for a tin,and o c as[' about an 1/8th of the tin!! Still looks good, changed brake pads and studs etc,so been off a couple of times, and finish is like the day i painted them!

the later red ones form a 2005? wrx have the subaru logo as a decal rather than cast onto the face of the caliper apart from that no difference at all

Thanks for the kind words!:thumb:
I was able to give these a good clean and paint on my bench,as i was upgrading from the rubbish 2 pots.I took 2 hours to clean them properly,as they were a bit rusty, and 3 coats of paint,2 hours between coats. Left them 2 days before fitting. I love these cheap mods that make all the difference, they all add up! |
Mmm, red calipers for my red scooby...
|
This is the paint i used.

Well as im fitting an sti ra engine ill be painting my inletmanifold red aswell so ill do them both at the same time cheers for the pic's mate .
|
Nooo! Don't use the brake paint for the manifold,it won't look very good. I used some VHT Wrinkle paint on mine, gloss paint won't look right imo.
The wrinkle paint looks factory(see my profile),i got two tins, only used one,if your interested in the other, let me know! |
vht wrinkle is that from halfords to ?
|
no, it's a special paint, bit me a pain to get hold of sometimes. Try Classic car restoration, kit cars and motorcycle restoration tools and equipment - Frost Auto.

I can't see it being a problem,as long as their clean. It would be better to remove the caliper, leaving the brake line connected, then remove the pads, pins etc. You wouldn't want to get paint on the pads, would look a bit naf. This would also let you give them a proper clean. The first coat will look rubbish,it took 3 to get this finish.

Yeah, the brake lines are flexible.Just dont pull them about too much,so as not to damage the lines. The do put up with some abuse mind!
The caliper is held on by two 17mm bolts. |
