the later red ones form a 2005? wrx have the subaru logo as a decal rather than cast onto the face of the caliper apart from that no difference at all

That's quite impressive. I had visions of me having to paint them every couple of months if I did them.

Looks very good mate, thank you very much for posting that picture! I took mine off today and was thinking of painting them red with white SUBARU letters, and now its no question that i will :luvlove:

mit 12 October 2008 07:03 PM

Thanks for the kind words!:thumb:
I was able to give these a good clean and paint on my bench,as i was upgrading from the rubbish 2 pots.I took 2 hours to clean them properly,as they were a bit rusty, and 3 coats of paint,2 hours between coats. Left them 2 days before fitting.
I love these cheap mods that make all the difference, they all add up!

ahar 12 October 2008 07:14 PM

mit 12 October 2008 07:19 PM

Well as im fitting an sti ra engine ill be painting my inletmanifold red aswell so ill do them both at the same time cheers for the pic's mate .

mit 12 October 2008 09:04 PM

Nooo! Don't use the brake paint for the manifold,it won't look very good. I used some VHT Wrinkle paint on mine, gloss paint won't look right imo.
The wrinkle paint looks factory(see my profile),i got two tins, only used one,if your interested in the other, let me know!

M535I 14 October 2008 08:29 AM

vht wrinkle is that from halfords to ?

mit 14 October 2008 10:48 AM

I've got the same paint for mine, haven't got round to doing it yet. How do you do it without taking them off/bleeding?

Is it poss??

Mike

mit 19 October 2008 11:34 PM

I can't see it being a problem,as long as their clean. It would be better to remove the caliper, leaving the brake line connected, then remove the pads, pins etc. You wouldn't want to get paint on the pads, would look a bit naf. This would also let you give them a proper clean. The first coat will look rubbish,it took 3 to get this finish.

OK mit thanks! can you remove them keeping the brake like connected, just don't want to bleed them thats all.

Cheers

mit 19 October 2008 11:53 PM

Yeah, the brake lines are flexible.Just dont pull them about too much,so as not to damage the lines. The do put up with some abuse mind!
The caliper is held on by two 17mm bolts.
