Im the pillock that rides the bike to save fuel whilst my missus goes wherever she wants whilst I pay for it, I get told to shut up if I say anything, ditto her insurance, I could run a really nice Scoob if A/ she would let me buy one and B/ paid for her own costs.

we walked over to the baths on sunday, the kids looked like "what is it broken", then back, probably saved £1 in petrol but we spent more time together and got some free exercise

what have i lost £7 over the length of the time we have the car, some people in here spends £1000's on a set of wheels, or some new stickers or a bumper, and im accused of being a fool on spending £7.00 :idea:

Yes, that is a good point but new wheels are proven to make your car look better to the owner at least) wheras the magnet thing was debunked a long time ago, if you think about it, its a magnet, what can it possibly do to fuel to make the car more economical, the fuel is supplied to the engine which injects it based on a map consisting of various parameters to decide how long the pulse of fuel from the injector is to acheive optimal combustion, this process is all controlled in real time using the oxygen sensor in the exhaust and as far as I know it isnt set up to dect the prescence of a magnet or any magnetic qualities in the fuel. The fuel is dispensed from the tank at a constant pressure, a pressure way higher than the engine actually needs, even at full power, to allow the engine to demand as much fuel as is required, what is not used is returned to the tank and so it goes round in a cycle at many litres per minute, what can the magnet do in the shrt time it passes through, even though it will go past many times I cant think of anything magnetic for it to act on.

I think it makes a finer or more even spray, hence a slightly cleaner burn so less deposits and very slightly better mpg, although im happy for it to be de bunked anytime about now!!

im hoping that the actual idea of it being on will make you more aware of mpg and getting that little bit more out of a gallon.
whether it will or not i dont know, probalby not but the price of it is money down the settee money.

even if it does save 5-10 percent i doubt i would notice, but i thought i would have ago.

Tell you what, if you give me £7, in a years time I'll give you back a guaranteed £7.10 minimum, which is more than you'll save in fuel consumption buying these magnets.

Thanks, saved me posting it. I think the term horse pukkey comes to mind. Saying that, when I was young and gullible Slick50, and those funny tin alloy pellets you put in your fuel tank. The Slick50 did seem to improve transmission noise and the gear changes in my Suzuki SJ410, as for the tin stuff. FAIL!

I got some sort of tablets which you put in the fuel tank and it is supposed to improvr the petrol's octane rating and run smoother too. I put it in the tank of my elderly Bonneville.

It did run a bit smoother after a short while and it runs happily on standard fuel. It certainly has not done any harm anyway.

You have a point.

Like braided steel brake hoses
Vent to atmosphere dump valves
Cone air filters, or cotton panel filters
Fully synthetic oil (well for Subarus, at least).
Dot 5.1 brake fluid
Performance exhaust back boxes (especially when still retaining the catalysts, mid section, uppipe and headers.
6 pot brake calipers (seriously, four very large caliper pistons can give the same effort as six very small ones: Pressure = Force/Area).

No no, its not a comparison, its a list of other automotive items that offer little or no gain.

Cost has little to do with it.

Fuel magents don't work. I sold magnet for a living a while back to all sort of industries; electric motors, tv corrector/focusing rings, loud speakers, computers, advertising etc etc. And, they DO NOT work on atomising the fuel so it burns better. :brickwall
