WRX UP PIPE

im after a decat up pipe for my 2002 wrx whats the best one to go for?does it make that much diffrence.

I fitted a magnex 1, not the best, i think the flanges are out of line slightly, first thing you will notice is the increase in noise as it changes your exhaust note/depth, then the throttle response, i found it alot sharper on pick up and the turbo will spool quicker, from what i have read in the past you are as well getting your original uppipe gasflowed. My mate has the same model and year as myself with very similar mods, only additional on my car is the uppipe and sti top mount but power figures are much the same

cheers guys if i get an sti one do i need to get rid of the sensor that goes in the wrx up pipe or has the sti got one?

maydew 24 September 2008 07:20 PM

yeah when they map the car they will put a resistor in the plug to knock the cel light out ,resistor only cost couple of pence

The boss in the WRX up-pipe if for the EGTsensor.............it's not there in the STi item.

If you fit the STi up-pipe then you will need a resistor fix in the EGT sensor socket next to the drivers side suspension turret, not allways 100% reliable though.

Might be easier to find a used WRX item and keep the EGT sensor :D

I have a miltek up pipe for my bugeye, BIG difference in performance. The drive feels much smoother and can now feel a big difference in power.

Well worth the money!

JamWRX1 24 September 2008 08:19 PM

how much was that if you dont mind me asking

AS87 24 September 2008 08:29 PM

rip his arm off mate best 25 quid you will spend i know loads of wrxs running sti up pipe(with resistor) with full decat pink injectors vf35 and see 330 bhp all day long.:thumb:

and i wouldnt bother going for the sti top,way the cost up of the ic(200) plus under tray(120ish) and maybe the scoop plus painting ,either keep the wrx top mount plenty good enough or for future mods grab your self one of those hybrid front mounts for bout 280ish
