Another recomendation for Z-cars from me! I built myself a fibreglass shell R1 powered mini and it was amazing!!
Quality of parts and service from Z-cars are fantastic. Kit works very well too!! Attachment 61991 Attachment 61992 Attachment 61993 The tubular front subframe is a thing of beauty!! Attachment 61994 Attachment 61995 Sorry was just having a fond memory moment! :D Ade |
Thats artwork that :luvlove:

yea that kit for the mini looks top quality have you got any pics on how the engine connects to the drive shafts did you use the original mini gearbox or was it all new parts and chains and sprockets. any pics would be great.
|
It's all part of the conversion kit from Z-cars. Basically you retain the bike gearbox (with a different sprocket) and are chain fed onto a lsd out the back. There should be plenty of pictures on the z-cars website of the general setup.
Works very well and means you retain the 6 speed sequential box :D :D :D With the addition of a trickshifter you have full throttle clutchless upshifts and clutchless down shifts!!! Simply awesome! :D Ade |
hi
anybody what to do this i have a 56 plate R1 engine and box for sale Adrian |

adam http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...010112-1-3.jpg you have pm |
hi delcbr i did this on the cheap it was a cbr 1000 carb engine i only paid 120 for the engine. it was a 42 tooth rear spocket 12 pounds off a cbr 600 and the standard front spocket the cbr uses a 320 chain.
this is a pic of the diff setup you take the diff out of the gearbox and weld a spocket to it. i had to machine the center out to fit.some diffs have a bolt on crown wheel so you can bolt the spocket on. the bearing was i think 10 quid each to hold the diff. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...o/P1010023.jpg this was the clutch setup i used the standard cable on the car and made a bracket as you can see from the pics. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...o/P1010116.jpg heres a pic of the carbs on http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...o/P1010114.jpg you can just rig the standard fuel pump up but you only need to run about 4 psi. the seicento has cable to select the gears on the standard gearbox. if you look at the pic with the diff you can see th mod on the gear selecter to use the standard cable. it was fast as fek but i scraped it in the end as i was moving units and couldnt be arsed to take it with me lol. adam |
this was the welding on the diff
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...P1010017-1.jpg this was the rear mount http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...P1010109-1.jpg the engine had to be mounted far forward because of the size of the spocket the idea thing would of been cutting into th bulkhead. but that would of ment moving the steering rack. the whole thing cost about 400. |
the easy thing to do is buy reliant kitten buy a spocket adapter and mount the engine sideways and bolt up the prop and off go lol. and you get rwd with a car that weights fel all because there fiber glass.
adam heres a pic of a spocket adapter for the prop shaft i have for the cbr1000 engine http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...PICT0016-1.jpg |

adam heres a pic of a spocket adapter for the prop shaft i have for the cbr1000 engine http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...PICT0016-1.jpg i thought you just run the original motorcycle sprocket off the engine and connect it to a larger sprocket attached to the driveshafts with a chain. where does the sprocket adapeter come in then? is that only needed when running the engine longituinal and using a prop shaft to connect engine to rear wheels? |
if you buy a reliant kitten all you have to do is turn the engine sideways put the spocket adapter on then off you go its a lot easyer then messing about making chain a diff.

cool i undestand now.
