300BHP Focus

First pictures of Ford's 300bhp Focus RS | The Sun |HomePage|Motors

Apart from the colour i quite like it.
Any comments?

New_scooby_04 04 July 2008 12:58 PM

FWD. No thanks! :)

speedymonkey 04 July 2008 01:01 PM

Im loving the look of that  it'd look cool in black :norty:

GazTheHat 04 July 2008 01:02 PM

Mean, Mean, Mean!

All ford have to do is make it AWD, the public (ok, rally nerds & petrol heads) are calling out for it.

IMO that's how the new MY08STi should've looked.

nik52wrx 04 July 2008 01:05 PM

I agree i would buy it over the current STi anyday.

wrx,sti 04 July 2008 01:41 PM

I like the look of that

ReggieMY99 04 July 2008 01:47 PM

Ford says they dropped the awd because it would have become to heavy

so 300 bhp fwd, enjoy :Whatever_

Mikkel 04 July 2008 02:00 PM

Looks amazing!

With 300bhp through the front wheels I will expect one of these to hit a tree every other week. Shame AWD and I would have bought one... in fact over the MY08 I may take my chances with the tree.

GaryCee 04 July 2008 02:12 PM

This was in a magazine I looked through the other day and one of the comments was that it was no longer just down to the Scoobys, R32s etc..They reckon that this can hold it's own with all of them.

Looks ok though.

DaveBeck 04 July 2008 02:16 PM

That looks quality. very mean. FWD with 300bhp is stupid. isnt it 225bhp max through front wheels?
will eat through tyres. would of thought a leather interior to.

but imo if they had gone 4wd. subaru and mitsi would be in deep $hit as for under 25k its a hell of a car

B0DSKI 04 July 2008 02:28 PM

Imagine what that would look like in White :notworthy

Norman Dog 04 July 2008 02:32 PM

 That looks good :thumb:

beef-on-the-bone 04 July 2008 02:43 PM

i like that green!?!!

white woud be awesome!!

won't be too long before some of the ford specialists make it awd.......

copying the mitsi a bit looks wise though imo

SqeekyMclean 04 July 2008 02:47 PM

Ford have solved the rusty wheel archs problem since my days.

That Focus RS would kill the sales of the New STi.

a modern chassis and the right electronic support and it will be fine :thumb:

I like it, be interesting to see it next to an 08 sti...wonder which has the most presence :wonder:

bmac800 04 July 2008 03:08 PM

Would look awesome in black, white or blue - better than puke green anyway.

I can't see the RS being available on the Ford Privilege scheme. The last one wasn't and I can in no way see it happening with this one.

I've also heard that the prototype has lapped the 'Ring at 8 mins 15 secs at the hands of their test driver.

depends entirely on demand and your position in the company. iirc the main reasons the series I wasn't available was because of the limited production numbers and actual production cost of the derivative.

How would your position within the company affect whether or not you could buy an RS on discount?

If it did then the diversity issue would come into effect which Ford is very keen on promoting within the company. Employees simply wouldn't stand for it anyway. The Privelege scheme was changed not so long ago anyway and now buying a car on it doesn't really offer the savings it once did.

not looked at prices for some time but my sister has just brought one of my fathers old lease cars 08 plate TDCi fiesta with all the bells and whistles for just over £6500 approx £10k saving on forecourt price :)

TimWRX01 04 July 2008 04:48 PM

I think it's horrible, not as bad as a new Sti but still pretty rank. The black photoshopped version improves it slightly only because you can't see how bad it looks.

Nothing wrong with liking it though, taste is a personal thing.

Cream 04 July 2008 04:50 PM

I like the look of it, Not sure about 300bhp with FWD. Sound a little over the top. I sound like a AWD whore and I've only had one for 3 weeks :D

You must drive a bugeye. :D

wrx9181 04 July 2008 05:05 PM

i like it but think it should be rwd like old mk1, 2 s 3 door cosworth not awd

GC8 04 July 2008 05:07 PM

Reason for claim: accident.
Cause: understeer!

Chelspeed 04 July 2008 05:09 PM

Remember the kit car rally cars? A certain Mr Loeb drove Citroen's Xsara version before getting the WRC drive. With NA engine there were no restrictors and Citroen hit an alleged 360bhp. With less weight than the 4WD WRCs they were seriosuly quick on tarmac.

Seem to recall one coming very close to winning one of the tarmac rallies, possbily Corsica, overall. So you can do 300 bhp through the front wheels..... if you have, I don't know, say £100k's worth of active diff.

ronburgundy 04 July 2008 05:18 PM

the car does look the business...but still prefer the MY08 sti in graphite....

300bhp and only a claimed 150mph sub 6second 0-60mph...did i read that right???? not that impressive lmao

ISLANDMAGEEZER! 04 July 2008 05:37 PM

I'd buy that for a dollar!!!!
