My Engine Bay Clean Up.

Well it looks like we are all cleaning up under the bonnet at the moment :lol1:

This was a while back....

Then I went for the Sti washer bottle plus I cleaned the engine...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tEngine001.jpg

Then started to change a few bolts :freak3:

I had a few bits fitted ready for a JGM re-map :thumb:

Stripped out...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tEngine067.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tEngine068.jpg

Then it was put back together :D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tEngine078.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tEngine075.jpg

Then back went on some parts I painted...

Getting cleaner...

Look at the state of these brackets...

Paint them up...

And these...

It took a while but I got there in the end :thumb:

Weeks of scratching around under there had it's side effects :freak3:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tEngine192.jpg

Finshed off under the other end for a change :lol1:

Cheers Trails and it's strange stuff to use, if you can get near the oven it's best to cook them for an hour at 90 degree's.... I made a box up and used a hot air heater on them as I never made it near the oven at all :lol1:

Frayz cheers pal :thumb: OEM is the route I seem to have gone down and it works for me... Shiney bits under the bonnet do look great but when you start where does the wallet stop you so I decided on a budget clean up which I'm really pleased with, the plate is partly your fault as well :hjtwofing :D

Thanks Richy.... I'm hoping that someone posts some japfest pics up of it as I spotted quite a few taking pictures yesterday... good to see other peoples perspectives.

Scott sent you a pm but I forgot to add the cleaning material...
I used THIS on the engine bay and engine it's fantastic stuff also used it under the wheel arches. To clean alloy a little more to get some shine you need to brush it so I had a couple of stainless steel brushes a little larger than tooth brushes so it's a case of cleaning away.... info on that site about those as well I think.

As you know the engine bay is not my comfort zone at all it never has been so working on it was new ground here for sure.... yes the plate was funny got a few people confuddled yesterday when they were looking for the car :D

The blame lies on Frayz and Glen combined they will be getting billed ;)

you complete bling whore si :lol1:

Always trying to compete with me and do one better
Loving the paint finish on those individual parts, works very well in deed.

As always, you take 'fettling and faffing' to another level :lol1:

Si, I've only just clocked the sti washer bottle, it looks smaller than the UK version...any details? :)

It's a hell of a lot smaller in shape and really free's some space up....

The difference being on the Sti there are no bumper washers jets like on the uk so the standard bottle has 2 motors on it where the Sti only has one making the bottle a different shape. In the future when I get a re-spray on the front bumper I'll be removing it for that job and the jets will be coming off and the holes filled ;)

I need one...my jets are already off, I will get the body work sorted out at some stage...honest :p :D can I ask how much you paid for it?

PM incoming Trails :D

If the last time my bumper had fresh paint on it the guy had removed the jets instead of painting up to them  I would had got a couple of small blue circular decals made up but the would end up looking a bit daft 3 inches in diameter here :freak3:

I used the same sti washer bottle when I did my FMIC. more space for the pipework. Used the exisiting motor from the old bottle and drilled a hole in the sti bottle and fed the washer jets into the bumper and re-routed them for intercooler sprays :smug:

phil739 21 May 2008 10:37 AM

pm sent

also noticed you have replaced alot of the old bolts and washers with new ones ... is there a set of some sort , or is it the case of taking each one to the motor shop and match up with new ones

cheers phil

Keith Collings 21 May 2008 10:51 AM

B&Q 10mm bolts and washers worked on mine - looks OK and better than the rusty ones - course I know some might not agree with B&Q as a source :)

Silver Scooby Sport 21 May 2008 11:12 AM

PM coming back your way Phil :thumb:

I got the bolts of fleabay.... mostly M6 and M8 st/steel allen cap heads, I simply removed one at a time to check the length and cut them down to suit.
