So would you pillage the dead... underwater?

Suzy and I are commuting to work on the tube and, as passionate divers, the subject turns to finding bodies on the sea bed! But then it takes a macabre turn when i suggest the body we've just found has a rolex on the wrist :norty:

I think I'd get over my shock at finding a corpse 100ft down pretty quickly to get me a second hand roley :D

Would you?

pimmo2000 06 May 2008 09:51 AM

er... I think I would just report ... rob the watch and be found wearing it .. you killed him .. I've seen Dexter

PeteBrant 06 May 2008 10:06 AM

Hmmm... Not sure I could sink to those depths.....

b'doom tish.

dpb 06 May 2008 10:11 AM

100ft not that much - youd feel a right nobber when one of the party asks you where you got it,
never been into watches myself anyway .

J4CKO 06 May 2008 10:32 AM

A Rolex is bad enough but one that has bits of grey flesh hanging off it would be worse.

Lisawrx 06 May 2008 10:35 AM

I'm not a watch expert, but would it be working still after being 100ft down. :wonder:

BTW, I wouldn't.

MJW 06 May 2008 10:46 AM

Not unless it had the box and all the supporting paperwork :D

ChefDude 06 May 2008 11:11 AM

btw, i've never seen a dead body underwater, but I've seen poseidon - you must get a bit jaded after 1 :D

and I'd wash the watch, maybe have it serviced of course :D

davegtt 06 May 2008 11:15 AM

Surely the first priority is to return it to a relative of the corpse.

Les

ChefDude 06 May 2008 11:38 AM

i don't think I'd be fishing for a wallet

New_scooby_04 06 May 2008 02:00 PM

Good gawd no! Creepy!

I know some Fisherman that do not believe that bodies (or possessions) should be recovered if lost at Sea, as a mark of respect i.e you do not try and retrieve what the Sea has claimed. Not sure I go along with that, but If someone is on the bottom that becomes a grave IMHO and should not be disturbed without good reason....and "but I really liked his watch" isn't a good reason! :)

magepaster 06 May 2008 04:50 PM

Hmm! Depends on the state of the body. Any flesh left on it, I would report to authorities. If it was just skeletal then I would take the watch. Then I would spread the bones over a wide area to make discovery of the body harder.

Unless it was a Cellini, then yes.

Would I?

Oh yes :D Even know a few Rolex owners I'm willing to put 100 feet under the sea in order to get their watches ;)

SwissTony 06 May 2008 05:59 PM

That's what I'd be thinking Les. However others think a fast buck is more important than common decency. :cuckoo:

richiewong 06 May 2008 10:08 PM

Or course the models would have to be the Submariner or Sea Dweller.

magepaster 06 May 2008 10:32 PM

I love the way people get wound up over a theoretical event.

I also love how gullible people are when reading something that someone has typed just to wind up the previously mentioned gullible people.

No wonder PSLewis has such fun on here:D
