Bleed/Boost control Valve?
 

Upon further inspection of my new wrx classic I've found that its got one of these valves fitted to it. I'm not an expert but correct if i'm wrong when I say I don't think its a good idea to have this fitted.

Do I leave it on or remove it?

IMHO Get rid of the thing, they are dangerous.

If you want to control boost, then do it electronically

are you running a standard ecu?

after i brought my car, i found out it had a dastec piggyback ecu in it, and they fitted a bleed valve to it when it was mapped

If you don't know the history of the car and the mods, have the fueling and det checked at a local RR.

MBCs work well. Just make sure you are within the desired boost parameters. By removing it you could mess with the mods that have been done.

i have been arguing wit a mate of mine telling him that bleed valves are dangerous and he tells me there not. can som 1 plz tel me y they so i can shut this nissan S13 owner up.

What makes them dangerous?

They can be dangerous if used as a method to increase boost beyond a safe point, but its the same thing with electronic boost controllers.

some of them are prue cr*p and cause boost spikes witch can either kill ur turbo or ur engine ive used them before on s13/s14/and a r33 skyline etc and i found the only good one out there was the one you can buy from driftworks its the blue one they sell for 35 quid.i found that one fine and ran it on my own everyday skyline i used to work and never had a prob but they need to be set to suit the car........witch can be a pain in the back side..

As far as I can tell the ecu and most of the engine is standard. Only mod on there is the dump valve.
When I had my EvoIII and carried out Stage 1 worth of mods there was no call for a bleed valve and I kept the turbo running standard boost.

This evening I took of the bleed valve and it seems to still drive ok although I'm feeling the boost coming in a lot smoother now.

This is gonna sound daft but where would I find the ecu in a classic wrx just to make sure there are no surprises there?

Under passenger side carpet ,underneath a kickplate.

easy check is to see if the screws are still glued if not then the ecu may have been opened.
