08 STI - another happy customer

After a few weeks waiting for the gold GT1's to arrive I finally picked up my new STI yesterday morning from KT Greens, I'm sure it will divide opinion but I've dreamt of a WR Blue STI with gold wheels for quite a while and Subaru's new softer approach actually suits my requirements perfectly. So far, very very pleased with it. Plenty of comments at the petrol station this morning and I had to chuckle when the neighbour came across when I was washing the wheels (I remember now why I like anthracite rims, brake dust arrghh) and he couldn't decide what it was when he saw it last night, first thing he thought of was a Focus.... so I guess another confirmation that Subaru's policy of more mainstream is working? :)

looks very nice mate, personaly i think the blue and gold defines a subaru

Manx_STi 19 April 2008 06:06 PM

Yeah im hooked far perfer them to my silver ones.. gold wheels it is... Looks like im off to the dealers monday then..

So they are 18 inch Gold GT1s? could i ask how much they stung you, £250 per wheel plus tyres?

PS
The silver wheels are a right PITA to clean too, ive cleaned mine twice a week! but i am off work i suppose lol

lucky_strike 19 April 2008 06:11 PM

Yep 18" GT1's, £250 a piece but not sure in total what it was, I had a p/x and just haggled on the cost to change on the deal, probs got a bit off them but nowt major. They fitted them with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres and they seem ok, never had them before.

TurboAndy 19 April 2008 07:18 PM

the blue sti with Silver alloys does not look right. makes you think its an wrx not an sti if you know what i mean.

But the blue and gold goes together so well.

I do like the way it looks on the out side but the inside looks cheep with the silver door handels.

SineSTI 19 April 2008 07:40 PM

Nice car mate. Enjoy!

rob84 19 April 2008 09:22 PM

looks really smart enjoy her:luxhello: my gt1's worked out at £1640 with pirreli p zero rossa tyres but did a nice deal due to my car being sat in the showroom for a week

Sweet car man! I have to say I love the New STi!

There's only two colours I'd go for though! Black With the Silver wheels or Blue with the Gold!

DEfo first choice would be Blue with the gold as it's hard to say it's a focus in that colour!

Best of luck with it!

:thumb: gold +blue=subaru :)

SirFozzalot 20 April 2008 06:39 PM

Are they really 18's?

They look really small in the first picture.

rb5 286 21 April 2008 10:12 AM

i'm certainly loving this new shape now, especially with the new look that most people dont even know its a subaru

Bam31bam 22 April 2008 07:13 AM

Was'nt to sure bout these new ones untill driving one round Castle combe for several laps.
Came away blown away, thought is was awesome although i did miss the Subaru burble!

Lovely car chap, congrats to ya:luxhello: :luxhello:

ruislip 22 April 2008 08:59 AM

im actualy starting to really like the new sti, yours is lovely...! i think i might have a lie down now hmmmm

lucky_strike 22 April 2008 09:07 AM

I still can't say enough how much I think these look better in the flesh, you just don't seem to get the stance/propotions of the car from photo's, not my efforts anyway. Everyone who's commented to me who is a non-Scoob fan and therefore not seen these before says just how wide and aggressive it looks. I'm well pleased... think I looked a bit of a chump this morning walking in the from the back of the car park to the office, in the bright sunlight I kept turning round to have another glance at it!

ballsie 22 April 2008 12:34 PM

I think you need a camera with a wide angle lens set just right to get the proper aspect of the new STi.

I took some pics of one with my Kodak point and shoot and it was amazing the difference looking at the picture and looking at the car in front of me.

HA HA, listen to them all now. Remember all those negative comments 12 months ago (not from me though).

Very nice looking cars, btw. More shots of the black one would be good.:thumb:

kennyc 25 April 2008 08:29 AM

Loving the wide front arches :) Nice car!

Scoob99 25 April 2008 09:08 AM

That is the best 08 I have seen, well done that man, now just get the zorst sorted for the burble, BTW guys are Subaru still using the boxer engine in this model if so why no burble, as someone said Blue+ gold= Subaru, mind you did see a white one on here the other week that looked quite sweet, enjoy her:thumb:
Cheers
Colin

lucky_strike 25 April 2008 10:44 AM

Still the same engine, 2.5 boxer but the burble is so subtle it's virtually non-existent. Something to do with equal length headers/manifild pipes I think or is that JDM models, can't remember. I agree it needs a bit more noise but not sure what's available, I was going to hold out and see what Prodrive offer, prefer to stay on the warranty friendly route for now.

ballsie 25 April 2008 01:05 PM

I believe Milltek are working on a system for the 08 STi.

Hopefully it will be an active exhaust so it's nice and quiet when in inteligent mode and an animal in sport sharp!

lucky_strike 25 April 2008 01:19 PM

ooo, sounds interesting.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the car and it was worth the wait for the GT1s!
