I have had a think about this and like to think I've learnt a bit from some of the protracted hugely expensive builds I've read about\seen. I've also just had to replace my central heating, fridge freezer and water mains supply which between them has eaten the money I've been saving for the build  so money is a little tight at present :freak3:

Stage 1; rebuild with a 2.1 CDB with a Simtek, retaining my current set up (18g TD05 and P1 box etc etc). I may be forced to replace my heads, I'll have to wait until its all stripped before the extent of the damage is visable. If the heads are OK I'm aiming to have this stage complete by June, if not I'll source some sti 5\6 heads but that will push the completion date out.

These build stages will depend on how far up 5hit creak the coutry is economically and how brave I'm feeling :lol1:
Stage 2; 6 speed Forester box and ancillaries.

Stage 3; bigger turbo and injectors.

Stage 4; sti heads if I've not already replaced them.

My intention is to have it back up and running so I can use it ASAP and then add to the spec as I can afford to...I'm not in a position to chuck money at it at present so I'll take my time :thumb:

2.1 Cdb with a Simtek is the way to go in silver wagons :thumb:

2.1 cdb will be awesome setup :thumb:

Have you thought about which pistons/rods etc you'll be using?

Also, will you be doing the build yourself or just bits?

Jolly Green Monster 08 February 2009 02:53 PM

do like the revvy nature of the 2.1 ;)

Simon

trails 08 February 2009 07:46 PM

not sure about the spec Ross, I'm not going to be running silly 500+ power so will probably be guided by Zak...he knows my driving style and what I want out of the thing :)

I think my heads will be damaged so will be on the hunt for some sti 5\6 heads if you see any around...looking forward to an 8500rpm limit Simon :D

I couldn't agree more Simon, best thing I ever did. The extra torque is a huge bonus too, can't wait to try mine on its new roller bearing T38.

Dan, Zak means there are no 15mm bolts on a scoob...so if I find you trying to undo a 14mm with it you will be wearing it :nono::lol1:

danielneville 17 February 2009 08:49 PM

Wagon roof bar delete trims....

cheers mbd, the way I look at it is this; work is stressful and not much fun so everything outside work should be treated as fun...regardless of how much it ruins your bank balance :thumb:
