TD05-20g Turbo
Has any one fitted the above turbo to a 93 wrx? (ie- phase 1 inlet manifold set up) Any pics or advice would be great. Been told i need two 63mm 90 degree samco hoses and a joiner. I'd like pics if possible so i can see how i have to do it, cheers guys.

Alright mate, that is my next mod I am looking at putting a TD05 on my 1995 WRX Wagon Import so I would like to know if this is a simple swap as I have the TD04 as far as I am aware.

if you have a wrx import then you should have a tdo5 as tdo4's are on english cars....

I am hopefully doing this this weekend, family commitments permitting....
I am using a 60mm Samco 90 degree to mate to my current setup. However my inlet path is modified already, it uses 76mm-60mm reducing 90 degree elbow 3" x 3" ally tube. I modified the reducing elbow to take a 25mm T into it, to which the ISCV and DV return feed to. Breather returns go to a catch tank so no returns for these either. This has been done already and fits a OE snorkel TD05, see below http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80...inebayside.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80...nebayfront.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80...tturboside.jpg So all I need to do is fit the 60mm Samco elbow to the 20g and it will fit my current setup. So this means that the OE black inlet elbow that usually fits to the turbo should fit to a single 60mm elbow from the 20g (with a decent joiner). HTH |
Cheers Jay, do you have a photo of the 20g turbo? I'd like to see it so i can compare it to the 16g turbo. I've got a simular set up to you ie Intercooler pipework, but have the OE pipe coming off the maff. Would be gratefull if you could keep me posted on how you get on and any probs, if any, you encounter. I've been told i need 2 90 degree 63mm samco bends but would like to be able to understand in my head how it will all fit.

If so, you're a braver man than me. Must be around 380 bhp with all the right bits to go with it. On a 15 year old engine, assuming no rebuild. |
Ye this is the one i have on order too. Just wondering the difference between front entry and the 90 degree entry. Trying to figure out in my head how it will plumb in. Heres a pic of my set up:

a 20g should be good for around 400bhp with the right supporting mods, if you are not going to be pushing it that far an 18g is a better bet and much less likely to suffer from surge. A well set up 18g in a classic will fly. |

No probs, unfortunatley the kids are ill so the wife has revoked the weekend pass, was planning on turbo swap, injectors, fuel lines, AVCR, gauges, plugs and an oil change. Nevermind I'm sure I'll get a chance soon - mines a daily driver too!
