very cr*p mpg bugeye wrx

hi all, had my bugeye wrx for a few months now, its using so much fuel its a joke, £20 only get's me 85 miles at best, is this about right or is their something wrong?

it has a green panel filter and cat back exhaust.

any help would be great, i wouldnt mind if i was driving it flat out but im not

thanx

ScoobyDoo69 25 February 2008 09:57 PM

Couldn't say what £20 is in my car, how many miles do you get from full to the fuel light?

bugeyeandy 25 February 2008 09:57 PM

Thats 21mpg , a bit below what I get in mine.
Usually get around 25 mpg maybe a little higher on the m-way.

bigvern 25 February 2008 09:57 PM

I'm getting about 26 mpg on V-Power so that is a bit over 100 miles for £20.

Only mods are a Prodrive back box and panel filter.

s70rjw 25 February 2008 09:57 PM

Around town , with occasional boost, thats about normal. I get around 200 miles in a Blob PPP around town

nik52wrx 25 February 2008 10:00 PM

Thats about 20 litres, which roughly equates to just over 20mpg which isn't out of the ordinary for an Impreza.
They do like to guzzle juice

jim16v 25 February 2008 10:06 PM

on a full tank i never get anywhere near 180miles, would a remap make it better? ive heard you can get switchable maps - economy / power can this be done on the impreza aswell?

daddyscoob 25 February 2008 10:22 PM

sounds about normal to me to

hi all i get around 330 miles at a push on the motorway at 65mph in my 99 import sti with 300bhp and around 200 round town normal. think i can get 28mpg on m'way if im easy.

escott 25 February 2008 11:01 PM

My standard bugeye WRX varies between 22mpg for mixed round town/a and b road fun, to 27mpg for long 'average' speed motorway runs. A good remap with driveability in mind should improve it a bit.

Has it been remapped? It really should be with those mods. Have a search on here for respected mappers, such as Jolly Green Monster, Bob Rawle, Andy Forest, Pat etc.

fraser87uk 25 February 2008 11:11 PM

i replaced my maf and it made a huge difference on mpg.

abc 26 February 2008 12:06 AM

A test of our PPPd WRX blobeye recently showed 20 mpg round town, 31 mpg on a long dual carriageway/A road run with some fun, and 36.7 mpg when driving reasonably carefully on the same route on the way back.

Obviously the mpg drops well below those figures if I'm heavy with my right foot and use the brakes a lot (!) .

:eek2: mine really is rubbish on fuel, really wish i could get kinda mileage,

hrness 26 February 2008 08:46 PM

my 01 wrx bug has just done 230 on 45 quid on v power, that was 110 motorway miles, with a couple of near top end short bursts, the rest was around town. when just driving around town it really does seem to eat petrol.
so yours is probably normal.
if pushing it and using boost can be as low as 180, car is standard fare, just backbox changed should notthink this affects mpg though.

Mifo 26 February 2008 08:57 PM

thats 19 mpg, probably about right with mixed driving.

Red_WRX_Paul 26 February 2008 08:59 PM

get f@cked

4ndy 26 February 2008 09:09 PM

welcome to the world of a scooby and with a scooby comes Vpower and driving around towns looking for a shell forecourt , oh the yellow halo , soo pretty :thumb: lol

Red_WRX_Paul 26 February 2008 09:12 PM

of course the mpg is bad you retarded f@ck

kin quick 26 February 2008 09:14 PM

I get about 240-250 on a full tank with mixed driving and a bit of fun.
Seemed to do more MPG after it was remapped with loads of bits on it than it did standard.

...............although I once done a whole 76miles on a full tank, but that was round Snetterton :norty:

Red_WRX_Paul 26 February 2008 09:16 PM

all gay

jim16v 26 February 2008 09:16 PM

ive just put £30 in, so im driving like miss daisy till the light comes back on, my m8 said it could just be the way im driving it, also the short run to work every day. only time will tell, well 120mile if im lucky hahaha

Red_WRX_Paul 26 February 2008 09:18 PM

IS ANYONE GOING TO LISTEN TO MY ****ING ADVICE

Probein 26 February 2008 09:20 PM

My bug is fitted with PPP (which increases fuel economy) and I manage around 250 miles to a tank.

Red_WRX_Paul 26 February 2008 09:24 PM

F@CK YOU!

prestigesec 26 February 2008 09:34 PM

PM sent

P20SPD 26 February 2008 09:38 PM

That's pretty normal mpg given your daily commute distance.

My M3 is better on fuel than my scoob was day to day.

Steven

ps Strut brace ;)

zs_phil 26 February 2008 09:45 PM

i get between 80-90 miles out of £20 tesco 99 driving around town.
full tank between 250-270 depends what roads ive been on

my03 wrx blobeye

prestigesec 26 February 2008 09:50 PM

Tesco 99??? its like bells whiskey switch to V Power which is like a fine malt, sounds daft but its the best way of describing the difference between the 2
