Bloody Xbox360 'helpline'

My 360 succumbed to the dreaded RROD last Fri ,so phoned the 'helpline' where i was told it was hardware failure, well Duh.
chap on the other end of the phone explained what i had to do etc 3-5 working days for packaging to turn up then 2-3 weeks for repair/replacement to turn up ,no problem.

About 5 mins (13.30) ago UPS turned up (last time it was DHL) who said they don't give out any packing and normally turn up as soon as possible:confused: so why did the 'helpline' say 3-5 days?

Luckily i had a ½ day so i could sort it out straight away.

I thought i would post this up just incase other people suffer the 'helpline' help

Just to annoy them i would send it back in a PS3 box.

I think thats only because they dont want everyone seeing how many returns there getting.

UPS picked mine up on 4th. I put it in a large post office postal box (use these for ebay.)

How long does it take to update on the website. My repair log still says awaited at centre.

If it doesn't turn up, what happens then?

Love the PS3 box idea. :)

Just an update 360 arrived yesterday 16th(after being away for about a week excluding transit times) with 1 month free gold (nice) and i think new internals (fault was dvd drive and motherboard) but it is a now a lot quieter had to turn the PC off and tv down just to here it running.

So good service then. Collected and returned way ahead of schedule. Can't say fairer than that :)

I made the mistake of sending in my power supply, mistake as in they sent me one back that didn't work! New one is in the post.

My 360 came back yesterday having been collected on the 4th, so just under 2 weeks all in. Not had a chance to plug it in yet so no idea if it's any quieter. Just MB replaced for me although the DVD drive does have a clear plastic strip thing over it like a new one would.
