just got to go and pick her up now.

And 1000 miles of slowness again :(

spally 05 December 2007 11:52 AM

couple of laps round the M25 or give it to me mate, have done 2000 miles in just over 3 weeks :D :D

spally 05 December 2007 11:54 AM

bet you cant wait, again!

cookstar 05 December 2007 11:56 AM

Mixed feelings TBH, I might park and cover her up though the winter. specially if its been mapped.

Slippery roads and 400+ BHP (and me) dont mix :D

spally 05 December 2007 12:28 PM

that's the sensible solution mate...but not the fun one ;) :D

V4JDMSTi 05 December 2007 12:52 PM

glad to hear it's all back together and sorted mate. 1k miles will go round pretty quick. gentle run to work and back every day should sort it. that and an impromptue tunnel run? ;)

cookstar 05 December 2007 01:02 PM

I manage around that for around 400 BHP, although on track i'm looking around 10 mpg :norty:

essexboy30 06 December 2007 06:59 AM

Out of curiosity......
Is a tunnel run the best option when running an engine in?
i would have thought smooth and gentle was the order of the day, not short sharp acceleartion, followed by rapid lift off.... :wonder:

rb5 286 06 December 2007 07:21 AM

Wahey, nice 1 cookie. i didnt find the running in of the scoobies that bad, still plenty of bottom end grunt :D :D

Not quite, this is why I try to rack up a couple of hundred miles up on any engine I build before handing it over, smooth and gentle can lead to poor ring seal and an engine that doesn't produce the goods.

A couple of pointers for those running in engines,
  • regularly check oil and water levels, this is your responsibility, before and after every journey is a good idea
  • ensure oil is up to temperature before using higher engine speeds
  • vary speed and throttle position and therefore engine load, do not sit at the same speed on a motorway for the entire period
Other than that, enjoy it :thumb:

Thanks mate, but if its set up like last time for running in then it will have a 4k limiter, and NO boost

Essexboy - I was going to do the tunnel run after the run in period, my 0-60 times will be measured in minutes while its on the run in map :D

rb5 286 06 December 2007 01:25 PM

yer......

far from it.

even managed 300 miles to a full tank on trip from the lakes

simon57 10 December 2007 09:52 PM

Well....got it back or what..big boy :)

cookstar 10 December 2007 09:56 PM

Yup, all parked up outside now :thumb:

Really missed driving it, even restricted to 4k to run in its great to drive.

Just need to do 1000 miles and put a front mount on, then the fun begins :luxhello:

Looie 10 December 2007 10:01 PM

A nice 'ickle run from Hemel to the HWH & back will add a few more miles..... :)
