Fruit only cleanse / diet

Hello

I decided the other day to lose some weight as I was hovering around 85kg.

So starting yesterday I am just eating fruit and raw vegetables (well, carrots) and drinking water. No beer, no caffeine (Pepsi Max mmmmm) and no other type of food. The is supposedly a body cleanse with the advantage of losing weight.

Has anyone done this? I hope I can keep it up for 3 weeks or so and then start to eat properly.

go the whole hog and stick a pipe up your ass and suck it out. :)

Can you tell it's almost Xmas with everybody wanting to lose a bit before they all pile it back on :D

Steve, not a great idea, you'll go a week without a sh!t then when you do go it will come out like liquid and you'll be farting for ages, trust me I tried it, try a more balanced diet.

My experience of doing it is different to Dave's :)

It is a great process for about a week which is typically how you would do it for. Assuming that you are only eating basic raw food. You need to get a good balance of foods so make sure you get things like avocado and almonds in there alongside the usual carrots, green vegetables and fruit etc. This will help with essential fatty acids. You can also get something called Udo's oil which is a fabulous, balanced source of Omega 3-6-9. You can add it to smoothies.

Having helped literally hundreds of people through a cleansing process like this my observation is that the worse someone's diet is before the process the more adverse the reaction is. Someone with a clean vegetarian diet beforehand will probably have little or no reaction at all.

Someone who is exposed to a lot of toxins, lots of meat, lots of red wine, maybe a smoker could be in hell for ten days!!

Also you may find that as the body starts to throw off toxins you get water retention and you weight actually rises for three or four days and then it will drop dramatically.

That might be why I have an opposite experience to yourself then (although I am a non smoker) :D

Get some Lighterlife packs off Ebay, a few of weeks worth will see you lose 1-2 stone easily :)
And does not hurt the body so to speak

Oh and flush flush with lots of water.

Thanks for your advice. I do not want colonic irrigation as fun as it sounds!

My wife (and children) use Udo's oil, perhaps I should try some.

I do eat lots of meat, so I guess it'll be an interesting couple of weeks!

I think the lack of Caffiene will probably hit me more as I'm used to drinking 2litres of Pepsi Max per day.

Done that one. Sadly she took the nipper with her so can't have one without the other :)

Even though that lighterlife is expensive, its cheaper than maintenance. :D

I need to get her in training for the annual post a pic of your bird under a crap thread title. :D

At the height of the 'detox' fad a few years back I remember reading an article in the Times by some doctor stating that it simply isnt necessary to do a detox, just switch to a well balanced diet with fruit/veg and plenty of excercise and your body will sort itself out. Makes perfect sense to me, we werent designed to eat sh1t food for years then clean it all out with a detox.

I used to spend most of my life travelling around Europe eating crap and drinking most nights. I put on around 2 stone in a year and remember getting in a hotel pool and really struggling to do a length. Switching my diet, getting some excercise and stopping alcohol for a while brought me fairly quickly back to my previous weight (few months later).

I completely agree with that. Unfortunately I have abused my body for years and I am now getting old and can't do it anymore. So this is the start, I do not want to do this for a few weeks and then go back to my 'old' ways.

Well, good on you for making the start, but why not take a bin bag to your fridge/cupboard/larder and throw out all the crap then go off to Tescos and restock with something better? A few weeks with a decent diet will (i'm fairly sure) work just as well if not better.

Also, assuming you dont get much excercise - find some form of sport/excercise that you enjoy (if you dont enjoy it you probably wont stick to it, however comitted you start off). For me I got back into Karate (which I'd enjoyed in my youth) twice a week and changed failry quickly from a bloated wreck to a slightly less bloated wreck. 5 yrs later still at it.

losing the 2 ltr of pepsi max per day will help you. It may be advertised as no sigar or what ever, but the stuff they put in there instead is generaslly a lot worse
