I am planning to buy a piece of land from my nextdoor neighbour - how much will the solicitors fees be roughly???

£500?

I'm buying a small buffer strip (no value) behind my house. Conveyance charge will be 200 pounds.

You could ask a solicitor...or a butcher. I'd go with the solicitor personaly.

you could do it yourself if you're in no hurry. i haven't done that before but i think there are a few people on here who have, so a link should be easy to find
otherwise i would guess that a solicitor is likely to charge more than a butcher, probably £500-700 but depends on the complexity of the title, restricitve covenants etc. speak to a licenced conveyancer - should be cheaper.
