Looks great :thumb: May I ask how much something like that is?
I saw a Rover V8 that was made into a coffee table, sorry don't have any pics or links. That chap used the pistons to rest the glass on. The piston head was attached via a foam ring to the underside of the glass. The piston rod was then free to rotate on the pin (gudgeon pin?) and went into the cylinder bore area somewhere. They were welded into position. It looked really good, as it showed off not only the block, but the pistons as well :) |
Blimey... not too many people get to see the internals of a Ferrari F1 motor.......
Dare i ask why the yellow cam covers, and not red??? |

Ive seen this type of thing done before with Ex F1 engines.
Lovely project, i too will be doing something like this in the future :thumb: |
i bet its heavy though
|
I think the rover V8 coffee table was done on top gear, after Clarkson decided to sell one of his challenge cars as furniture.
|
Absolutely awesome m8 :thumb:
Makes a nice change from all these bloody scoobs in here  :D |
Seen it done with F! wheels before.. awsome tables mate :)
|
Clarkson did the same thing with a Porsche engine block a v6 i think - stripped it, cleaned it, put a glass/perspex top on it, job done
would love one myself. |

Interested how you got your hands on this and how much it cost, obviously all internals and ancilleries have been removed so it is just Block/Heads and Sump Assembly, but still a good buy.
From photo looks like a rod or similar failed during its life Attachment 61125 |

Outstanding mate:thumb: :thumb: Really liking the Porsche wheel:notworthy :notworthy

geo has "contacts" in motorsport and can acquire lots of strange things, iirc this table was being made for someone specifically, seen a few things he has done on sidc
|
Wheels are one thing, F1 engines are something completely differnet:thumb: not too sure on the yellow though:D
|
Bump for this..
Have you any pics of the finished article? |
Holy cow....thats class :)
|
I think George was making the table for .....
Scuderia Ecosse // Racing with Ferrari. Official Team Website. |
I have a polished V8 Engine block for sale if anyone is interested. PM for pictures.
Put a lot of work into it but there is no way the other half would allow in the house so quite happy to sell to a good home. Chop :) |
That's awesome! It'd be good to put that engine in an Impreza though instead :)
|
Good work.
Strange how that v8 looks small! |
I pressume that table would sell for a fortune purely due to the price of the ferrari block ??
|
Fantastic mate.:thumb:
