speed issues 100mb circuit upstream / downstream ?
any ideas folks
bt just put in a 100mb fibre circuit , according to them they have tested it and say fine. My problem between the 2 sites upstream - 80mb (random tests) downstream - 4mb (random tests) have tried all options swapping out cables / crossover / changing switches ./ direct link to bt les 100 box all still the same results any ideas jas |
Sounds like you are being very logical but have you tried something as simple as checking that any switch ports are manually set rather than 'auto'.
We had a circuit that was showing CRC errors caused by just that and it was crippling the TCP throughput, presumably becuase of the error checking overhead? |
auto 'tends' to negotiate to 100 half duplex. you may find one end set toFULL and one to HALF this would cause all sorts of errors.
check there first |
It is a few years since I have had any dealings with LES100's but iirc auto negotiate is not supported on the circuit and like Rogp and Kieran I suspect there could be an auto negotiate issue here .If auto negotiate is set at one end on your switch it is more than likely your switch at that end will be running at half duplex and at 10mb/s not 100mb/s when it fails to negotiate the settings with the NTE on the LES100.

Meant to add to above that if you are happy with your equipment settings and get the same results when connected directly to the NTE ask BT to check the NTE settings, which I am sure they can do remotely on the LES100.
