Car Ding Strip - Classic

Anyone got a picture of one of these on any other classics (ideally green)?

Saw one on an advert and considering to protect against dings.

Subaru : V reg Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD

What are they called?

Cheers :thumb:

They look a bit crap on a silver car. Maybe better if colour coded or on a darker coloured car.

subaruian 27 July 2007 04:03 PM

i think they look good on my silver classic :notworthy

Would probably colour code them, but my car is dark green anyway.

Any idea's what the 'proper' name is for them?? :wonder:

AlexJReid 27 July 2007 05:04 PM

I've always called them 'bump strips'. There's probably a more technical term.

subaruian 27 July 2007 10:00 PM

door protectors? i think if not phone your local subaru parts dealer and ask them:)

SwissTony 27 July 2007 10:03 PM

ha ha , nice one, but tbh they are brand new and unboxed so they are going to be the same price as a dealer..well close to :)

Mr Footlong 28 July 2007 10:56 AM

Are these simply stick on affairs or is any modding required? I am guessing the former.

subaruian 28 July 2007 11:14 AM

correct they just stick on:p

I cant remember the exact cost of them from a dealer, but I think £70 should about cover it.

subaruian 29 July 2007 10:35 AM

Dude, say something useful or shush. I have a lot of dinks and scratches on my doors from prats in car parks hitting them and they really show up on a mica black car. While I am not getting any for myself, I can completely understand people wanting them!

subaruian 29 July 2007 09:21 PM

agree with you footlong was gonna take mine off but changed my mind ive got to like them and thats why ive decide to not colour code my seals id rather have them than loads of dings down me doors and a big repair bill

motoxxxr 30 July 2007 01:09 AM

just thought i will say at toyota we call them p moulds and i would say the car would look better off:thumb:

Ain't that the truth...... I seem to get a new one every time I park it, even after choosing the space carefully.

SwissTony 30 July 2007 08:28 AM

well boys and girls, the side strip protectors are still in my garage going spare, so whoever wants them, pm me.:thumb:

j3nks 30 July 2007 02:21 PM

Mr Footlong 30 July 2007 02:28 PM

/me bows :D

"You will be adding reflectors to your door edges next" Ok, I should have worded my reply better. By saying that you are making out that only anoraks and gimps in general should be using side protectors and then naturally we would all put reflectors on them. Yes, of course they would.....

As I said, I am not fitting any myself, but they are a good idea and my doors are going to cost me a small fortune to repair......
