my carbon fibre backed grille badge
 
seen a few threads about painting these so thought, sod it, i'll give that a go:) got some carbon fibre at work, so that dissapeared;)
overall i'm well chuffed:) it was looking a bit of a disaster halfway through laying it up so when i took off the masking tape i was pleasantly surprised!!

it's a bit rough around the edges, but you can hardly see once it's back in the grille. pretty good few hours work:thumb:

no, reckon you're right there mate. good bit of helpfull advice you gave me there:)

as it was, the badge i won off ebay hadn't turned up by the weekend so had to grab the bull by the horns and take off my original badge. glad it turned out ok as the ebay one is a pink jobbie:lol1:

if you got enough carbon fibre left mate id knock a couple more up and sell them on fleebay ud make a few quid as you dont see any badges like that on there:)

quick question, what type of resin/glue did you use??

got a big sheet of the c/f material and just wanted to know what to do with it :D

PM sent:thumb: might well end up on the car to be honest, mine looks to have dried with a few air holes in around the edges:( must do better next time;)

gljam - polyester resin mate. clear gel coat then layed up with normal poly resin. just the same as fibreglass (just a bit of a 5hit to lay up anything other than flat surfaces! not really the process to use around tight edges and corners to be honest, but you can get some half decent results with a bit of patience:))

nice job - just to say you can get the newage JDM oem version of these from Cheam motors, group buy on the go on Surrey Scoobies at the moment..
