Evo tested it too, and did say it could be better. RS5 should address that just like the RS4 addressed any doubts about the S4. |

Audi would do better to sort the handling of their cars - even the current RS4, which is the best RS car, is quite understeery. I used to have a RS6 and it is basically a normal A6 with an epic engine. M cars tend to be more of a rounded package for people who like driving.
580 bhp on the road is just plain silly. Anyway RS4 only understeers for people that are not good drivers and need the understeer as otherwise they wouldnt be able to handle all the power. Heres a guy who knows how to drive, and is oversteering/drifting round corners. YouTube - rs4 into the dung Also have videos of the audi S8 oversteering. You morons and evo mag guys just arent very capable drivers. You idiots need electronic goodies and mass oversteer tendecy cars to help you go sideways :lol1: |

That is a fine looking car....... but when all is said and done, you are still a boring dick!
Its also an artists IMPRESSION not a picture of the actual car. |

FFS.....what a bell-end you are.........you REALLY are!!! Please also remember.....RS4 £55K.....Impreza £30K tops. They are different classes of car......one is a A and B-road weapon, more than capable of making extremely rapid progress in crappy conditions, adored by many, loved by many, and "reasonably" priced.....the other is an Audi. |

I wonder how the "understeery" RS4 managed to blitz the 'ring in under 8 mins then. Not bad for a near 1700kg car. ;)

Electronic goodies? Audi are guilty of having just about every electronic nannying aids of all manufacuturers with the likes of DRC, EDL, ESP, EDB, ASR etc etc , and like you know how to drive sideways! Its the lack of the nannying aids that allows you to drive the car how you want to! :iamwithst

Shhhhhhhhhhhh.

LOTR/AL = Toilet Duck, always on about getting round the Ring:D

so then how come the RS4, S3 S8 R8 ETC all do it then? :lol1:
So are you now saying that having "electronic goodies" is a good thing  |
Cant people keep threads on topic for change???
|
The "ring" is not terribly realistic of real public roads- its mostly smooth with some tight curves and many sweepers. The corvette is a so-so handling car
and it does high 7:40's round the ring. Same with the Dodge Viper- somewhere around 7:50's. The ring needs just a few things, massive power, massive tires and massive balls. Lets all stop using the ring as a benchmark for handling. The average b-road or mountain pass is a far better test. JL |
Are there any potholes and 4inch deep manhole covers at the ring?
|
it will get slaughterd from a rolling start by the new m3 as the audis quattro system is a big disadvantage once on the roll.
take the e46 m3 and the new rs4 for example, not much init upto 80mph but after that the m3 pulls away at a pretty alarming rate. new m3 will be the better car. |
It will be interesting! M3 V RS5 or RS4. The new M3 is said to be lighter than the old one. That will make it some 200kg lighter than the Audi. That is hell of alot!
I expect the M3 to be the drivers car. But those images do look good :D |
I had a Fiesta 1.6 Zetec Sport on loan last week while our Landy was in the garage. Pains me to say it, but it was so much more fun to drive than my Audi. A complete hoot.
Just wish Audi would learn to build their cars to provide feedback, albeit I can't include the RS4 in this context because I've not driven one. |

You might notice that the handbrake is used several times to initiate the oversteer. At other times the car is 'Scandiweden flicked' into the bend, the normal way of getting a car that doesn't want to oversteer into a rear end slide. Have you not seen even FWD cars that can be made to momentum oversteer using this method ? The RS4 is setup and designed to understeer. The engine would be further back in the chasis and potentially a more rearward bias used if it was not. Still a lovely car, sounds uber with the right pipes :D |
