Try owning a Land Rover or a Volvo.
Subarus are only expensive if your used to Fords or similar. Over the term of ownership the costs are outweighed by things not going wrong.

do it urself, all oil replacements are easy enough.

discs/pads,easy enuff.

only hard thing is cambelt,do all other stuff urself at a cost of about £100 and cambelt costs £200 from main stealer, £300 saving

Go to a specialist and you should be able to nearly halve that bill, cam belt or no cam belt.

Why the hell do their hourly rate price go up the bigger the service, an hours work is an hours work, i get paid an hours wage if i have an easy job or a mother of a job that day

brihoppy 05 April 2007 08:41 PM

By time I sell my car, the breakers yard won't car about a history, so long as someone competant does my cambelt, I'll do the rest myself

I'd be a lot happier to see a service book with lots of API stamps or Scoobyclinic etc. At least I would know the car had been looked after by professionals and not cowboys.

Even cambelt can be DIY as at least you can get to it once rad is removed. I need one changing on my Citreon and I would not even attempt it - esp. as my neighbour will do it for £70.00 incl. belt :D

i know main dealers are expensive but everytime i cant help thinking theyve fleeced me...!!!

scoobyboy 05 April 2007 10:51 PM

no need to remove the rad to do a belt plenty of room with it in there, and as for specialists not ripping people off yeah right!
