Coolant.....err......what coolant?!!
when upgrading my horns today took a peak at the coolant reservior near the battery (MY00 classic). err.......looks bone dry!! :wonder:
should i be doing something about this imediately?!! i no nothing about coolant levels etc how far up the reservoir tube should it be? |
Should b a fill to mark on it, and id do it asap if i was u, or u could b hearing a loud bang soon
|
should i take it to dealer or can you buy coolant somewhere??
any particular make etc? |
err not sure tbh, mine has never run dry :) never had to fill mine. When was it last serviced?
|
serviced in July06
|
Probably due another 1 then so if uve been driving it much, the fact the coolent well is dry could indicate a bigger problem
|
Worth checking the header tank on top of the engine for level too...??
i always check that one first before the one in front of the battery. |
I was on the understanding the one by the battery was an over flow res

cheers for this fella. panic over!! it is indeed an overflow type reservoir. i took it to the garage and the header tank was full to brim so not a problem, they put a little water in the anyway to top it up. (its a diluted solution anyway apparently so a little extra water is fine so i was told)

I remember my first car a rover 214sli twin cam , i never knew anything then and just kept topping it up with water.eventually my hoses corroded and caused my cambelt to snap somehow according to the guy who rebuilt my engine:wonder: so not too much water in there :norty:

Halfords and the like sell proper coolant. Far better than just sticking in some water.
