New age FMIC group buy

Hi people,

I'm looking to set up an Autobahn88 Front Mount Intercooler group buy. This group buy is specifically for the New-age cars (2001-2005). If you are looking for an intercooler for a classic (pre 2001), have a look here: https://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys...-fmic-kit.html

The intercooler itself is the same as that for the classic group buy, but with a different fitting kit.

The specs are as follows:

All TIG Welded 6061 Aluminum, polished end tanks
100% Vacuum Brazed Core
High Efficiency Bar Plate | Tube Fin Construction

Inlet/Outlet: 2.5inch | 3inch | custom size

Max Recommended PSI: 45psi
Low pressure drop w/ only 0.2psi at 15psi of boost
Tested CFM: 1020 CFM
Fin Pitch: 15 Fins/Inch
Four Threaded Universal Mounting Points

The price would be 245 door to door including shipping (which will take up to four weeks). If we want them to be there in 3 days it would be 266. We have to agree on what kind of delivery we want.

Here's a pic of all the parts included with the intercooler: https://www.carparts.com.hk/images/gdb-l.jpg

Here's a pic of the intercooler fitted:

Add your names to the list below if you are interested.

Also, I'm trying to confirm if the new-age standard dump valve fits or not.

Hmm, good point... Although to me it looks as if the inset would fit.

Can someone in the know confirm, please? :)

Andygreer 31 January 2007 11:34 AM

Right Guys.

Intrested in this as well. But again need to know

1) Standard Forge VTA will it fit
2) Fog lamp situation

Henrik 31 January 2007 11:35 AM

I've added some more pics above (click on the link in the original post)

Unfortunately this is to an STI, so it still doesn't answer the question about whether or not the fogs have to go.

However, it does look neat, at least on an STI :)

The BOV take off is ment for an HKS DV and there must be some sort of bar in the kit, otherwise the main crossmember fowls the intercooler itself.

KIPS 31 January 2007 09:41 PM

DONT FORGET YOU WILL NEED A CONE FILTER
BREN@APEX HAS GOT THE APEXI IN STOCK NOW:thumb:

I put a thread up earlier in genral asking if anyone had fitted the F M I C on a new age had a few replys might be worth reading as some good info and more contacts to help you all with your questions

Ok Confirmed the oe bov will not fit this intercooler, the take of is designed for the hks style bov. It comes with necessery blanking pugs etc, there is a deluxe kit which can include the hks style bov and a racing suction kit. I can find out about this if interested.

Failing that you will have to modify the pipe work by welding an additional adapter, or blank the existing hole and include an alloy t piece which can be fitted by reducing the existing pipe work to accommodate.

The second would be the most straight forward and the cost effective option

i thought the HKS style still had the same flange to bolt to the existing top mount though.

This is confusing me :wonder:

This is the style, I believe: eBay.co.uk: HKS SSQV TYPE BLOW OFF DUMP VALVE BOV ANY TURBO (item 180078995119 end time 04-Feb-07 20:39:29 GMT)

cookstar 03 February 2007 01:06 AM

cheap :)

Slowboy Racing 03 February 2007 10:08 AM

From email :

Thanks for the enquiry.

Actually our GDB FMIC kit can't use the OEM BOV The kit is same as the HKS one. The kit is coming with one pipie, which is for HKS Style Bov, but we support the disc and the e-clip to cover the hole. Therefore you can weld other type of BOV. We have the deluxe kit for the GDB, which is coming with the suction kit and the SQV II Style Bov

drb5 04 February 2007 12:51 PM

And what about the cross-member behind the bumper? What happens with that?

cookstar 04 February 2007 12:55 PM

Sorry thicko questin time

GDB this does mean newage doesnt it, :wonder:

Yes it does.

DLETETED DUE TO WISE INFO FROM BOBRAWLE
WILL SEE IF I CAN SOURCE ADAPTORS TO RUN STD RECERC DV KIP

Bob Rawle 04 February 2007 07:58 PM

Suggest not fitting the HKS SQV as this will/can cause problems with car jerkiness and maf reversion, especially if higher boost is being run. Source an adaptor and stick to the std factory item.

cheers

bob
