'i' grille badges

Bit of a random question but I can't remember seeing it answered before, just wondered what the 'i' on the grille badge of JDM classics stands for exactly?

sarnyboy 13 January 2007 10:14 AM

IMPREZA...??

Daft Lad 13 January 2007 10:16 AM

PMSL, that would be the obvious answer wouldn't it :lol1: You know those mornings where you just can't see the wood for the trees? :brickwall :D Time to go back to bed I think!

sarnyboy 13 January 2007 10:18 AM

:)

DarrenSTI 13 January 2007 03:51 PM

I thought it was the logo for "STI", but why would they have just the last letter as a logo?, maybe wrong.

Gear Head 13 January 2007 04:05 PM

It the sti logo I think?

sarnyboy 13 January 2007 04:31 PM

no, its impreza, unless its a pink badge.. then its sti,

wrx imports normally have a black badge with an i..

silent running 13 January 2007 05:36 PM

LOL 'I'mpreza.

Bat-Fink 13 January 2007 05:37 PM

And UK cars have black badges IIRC.

EmEm 13 January 2007 05:38 PM

I actually asked someone this once and they said it means "Import". I think I've only ever seen them on imports so must be true?

chris-RB5 13 January 2007 06:04 PM

It's Import

Dracoro 13 January 2007 06:29 PM

If it's import then the jap ones wouldn't have the same badge, which they do! they're not imports over there you know  :D

It's I for Impreza.

Untitled 13 January 2007 07:29 PM

Think the 'I' badges are standard on Jap STI's. As far as I was aware I think it stands for the I from STI.

gatty 13 January 2007 07:39 PM

****.........i just put one of them on my 04 sti , i liked the pink badge with the i and now i found out it belongs to the classic shape.

HowieG 13 January 2007 07:52 PM

My JDM WRX bugeye has an 'I' badge on the grill. I is for Impreza! I remember reading that in japan the Impreza is sold as a marque rather than just a model.

It's Impreza. My 95 wrx import had it. My current import has the subaru stars badge. Both were black with silver writing.

rasonline 14 January 2007 12:31 PM

The JDM classic shape STi comes with both the badges with I or with the stars, both with a pink background.

Not sure that it means Impreza though? DId any of the "legacy"s come with the I badge??

I was for ice cream

(very nice of subaroooo for there educational contribution to society)

JohnHamer1977 14 January 2007 03:45 PM

Nah, only messin.

The Imprezas were originally a concept of the computer company Apple?

They kept the i there as a bit of respect to there founding fathers - true to there roots, holla.
Anything with i on it takes off pretty well, iPod, iMac, iTunes etc

LegacySTi 14 January 2007 03:54 PM

i for impreza
