dyno plot.

hi all. just thought i,d post up a power graph (at last) of my scooby. just had it done today at powerstation. had the car new and about a month down the road decided on a few mods.

2.5 wrx

all work done at zen.

td04 removed and td05 fitted.
complete miltek decat and uppipe.
sti top mount fitted.
green filter
remap

look at the figures of wheel power and flywheel. there seems to be a big gap. is that right ? :)

Multijfj 02 January 2007 08:30 PM

Not sure, but to give you an idea of comparrison -

Mine was rolled sadly due to BP ultimate fuking the boost up on my car, at 313bhp, with 249bhp at the wheels, and 468nm of torque

So you could be losing a hell of a lot of power somewhere, or innacturate rollers maybe

ex-webby 02 January 2007 08:30 PM

Good power for a WRX mate! :)

The MAHA RR is geared to give FLYWHEEL power. Dont compare the WHEEL given on this type of RR with others types. The Flywheel power should be as comparable though against other RR's.

Hi

my 2.5 sti has been moded at zen

mods are

tdo6
hyperflow front mount
decat
cold air induction

without the front mount and cold air kit was 365bhp
rolling road at powerstation
will dig out the graph

scooby2.5maz 02 January 2007 08:35 PM

thankyou webmaster ! :)

scooby2.5maz 02 January 2007 08:38 PM

hi there shadower, how long ago did you have your car done at zen ? did you leave your sti top mount there ? :)

shadower 02 January 2007 08:42 PM

yes i did about a month ago

sold them the top mount save bringing it home

scooby2.5maz 02 January 2007 08:52 PM

ha ha, think i have that fitted to mine. when i went up to zen to have turbo fitted and other bits i also was supposed to have sti top mount fitted but they forgot but said if i came up in a week or so they may have one as a chap was having a complete front mount fitted. i guess that was you then.

how does your car feel with the front mount and td06. you can imagine the smile on my face going from 230 bhp to 340. i couldnt stop grinning all the way back to worcester.:)

shadower 02 January 2007 08:57 PM

Fantastic pulls in every gear to red line
big inprovement all round no turbo lag either
but it will be going back soon for pistons and rods then i can crank the boost up as its onlt pushing 1.3 bar

can t wait
have to make up excuses so i can go out for a blast :)

bruce 02 January 2007 09:07 PM

Nice rr plot scooby2.5maz, could you tell me what boost you are running on the TD05 and are you on the standard fuel injectors?

thanks.

bob r 02 January 2007 09:42 PM

Very impressive results and a great start to the new year.

Robocop 02 January 2007 11:33 PM

Excellent torque curve. :thumb:

hi bruce, car was mapped by paul running 1.2 bar on standad 500 injectors. :)

ex-webby 03 January 2007 11:00 AM

I didnt know they fitted 500's to a WRX now???

scooby2.5maz 03 January 2007 11:39 AM

i didnt realise that either. thought that i would have needed some bigger ones for the job of running td05 but paul at zen said they were plenty up to the job saying that 500,s are fitted saving me a few quid :)

Shark Man 03 January 2007 11:43 AM

Bit dead in the water below 3000rpm for a 2.5 :wonder:

Torque is building rapidly just after 2000rpm, peaks just after 3000rpm.

My own car has a similar torque and power curves and feels very rapid from low revs, just compare where torque starts to climb on a 2ltr then you will see the benefit of the 2.5ltr

Andy

Shark Man 03 January 2007 12:02 PM

Sorry, I misread the numbers on the graph (bladdy Nm  ). Curve looks lethargic, but the figures are high anyway :)

Still, when I can get a 2.0 peaking before 2700rpm, you can understand my initial viewpoint :D

I had heard that the same injectors were fitted to 2.5 WRXs and STis

Nick

shadower 03 January 2007 02:40 PM

yes me too same in both cars
paul at zen told me mine are ok too after the turbo and map

ex-webby 03 January 2007 05:13 PM

Well..... you learn something new everyday! :)

On the road in 4th gear it makes a bar of boost by 2700 or something silly. THe boost is deliberately held back below 4000rpm to limit the torque a little. The car is anything but laggy I can assure you.

Robocop 03 January 2007 07:24 PM

With a minimum of 300 ft lb of torque (Nm/1.356 = ft lb) between 2900 and 6000rpm, that's a nice looking graph/figures that Zen have done for you there.

I'd imagine that this is a rapid WRX on the road. :thumb:

As a comparison, here’s my graph for a Spec C Type 20 also using a Maha rolling road.

Very good figures, especially as it's at Powerstation (ie one of the more realistic dyno's IMHO). I bet it makes a very quick road car..;)

Is it a TD05 16g or 18g..?

Also, it does seem that the later (05>) 5sp gearboxes are better able to handle the extra torque, so no need to worry too much about that. (Before someone says it's going to disintegrate in not time..! :))

Paul,
Do you know when Subaru 'uprated' the gearbox for the WRX..? I know you've mentioned this recently, however what exactly did they do, is it likely to improve reliability when running >300 ft-tb..?

i bet you do........ :D :D

If you think that the 2.5 06 WRX PPP is rated at something like 310ft-lbs then given Prodrives cautiousness with regards to warranty (even taking into account their often 'optimistic' figures) it stands to reason that the 5 sp gearbox has been uprated. Probably from the 05 onwards when some gearbox modifications were mentioned in the press release (anyone have a copy of the press release of know of a web page..?).

I'd like to know as my 05 (2.0) is currently running ~340x330 and if my theory is correct then the gearbox should be just fine..:)
