The new M3

Looks pure ****e. Surely this is CAR magazine being cheeky as it looks so crap. If it is real I suppose everyone can carry on placing orders for the RS4 or seek out used M3 CSL's.

Agreed, Seems to have gone the way of Subaru and Mitsubishi and their new cars ;)

I do like the look of the current m3 and will probably get one, I shall not be buying this newer version, just as I have avoided all new shape Imprezas.

RoRu 31 December 2006 05:09 PM

AudiLover, i wait with baited breathe for your in depth review of the driving experience the new M offers, as you are SN new driving dynamics guru.:D:D

And i like the look of the new M.

Petem95 31 December 2006 05:13 PM

Looks great IMO! Doesnt jump out that its the hot model - just the badge and big wheels and arches give the clues that its something special - and that's how it should be.

With a 400bhp V8 under the bonnet I dont think many people would say no...

Martin-STI 31 December 2006 05:13 PM

ALL new cars are more pointed/rounded at the front due to pedestrian impact.

The new Scoob will have no scoop due to this.

Dont like this M3, would have present one.

cat7 31 December 2006 05:38 PM

anyone else find audilover a bit....

strange?

Blind love for a marque, any competing marque flamed!!

Do you work for them audilover or are you just weird, the creepy stalker of the car world.

Aaah, another well informed, intelligent, unbiased and objective statement from you. Your posts never fail to amaze me.

What car do you drive?

compshack 31 December 2006 06:20 PM

I think what Audilover is really saying is that the new M3 is going to beat the pants of the RS4 and he really wants one. :)

Perhaps he just can't resist four rings :-)

Matteeboy 31 December 2006 07:19 PM

...hence my damning of Audi....

Looks good to me but should a 3 series really have an 8 pot?

Not so sure....

More worrying is the fact the the driving god that is AudiLover is only 22 and has yet to even experience any part of real life, let alone real cars ;)

And drives a Volvo S40 (snigger) and has probably never even driven an Audi! ;)

MattW 31 December 2006 11:15 PM

Red x's on some of those pics.

AudiLover 01 January 2007 01:54 AM

lol at the BMW fanboys who seem to have got offended by me not liking the styling. I love the E46 M3 btw you emotional geeks and I love AMG's.

tony95 01 January 2007 06:27 PM

a proper m3 should have wide arches, and would probably be lhd.

Agreed, however did'nt realise how nice the E46 CSL is until looked around one in the flesh... awsome package... E36's still a great laugh and my old 325i Touring was a complete laugh

ok for all those bmw fags that said how they loved this car, well guess what its a fookin fake.

Car magazine was being cheeky after all.

Nürburg_Ringa 02 January 2007 08:33 PM

of course!!

MattOz 02 January 2007 09:04 PM

Of course it's a fake! The numberplate is from a 335 coupe that's been in all the mags. Unfortunately, it'll probably be fairly similar, so give me an E30 evo Sport any day of the week!

Matt

RB5SCOTT 02 January 2007 09:46 PM

Yeah but the 335i/d looks really nice and sleek in the flesh. When the M3 hits the road i think it will look pretty good as long as they flare the arches a bit and make it look abit different from the lesser coupes

CraigH 03 January 2007 08:02 AM

3 series coupe from the rear is about as faceless as a car can get nowadays - bland.

Will look better when someone brings out Lexus lights for it.

Totally agree mate - i saw pictures of the coupe in mags and tbh it looked crap but i saw a 335ci in the flesh and it looked lovely if not groundbreaking.

Matteeboy 03 January 2007 11:15 AM

335i gets a pasting in JCs Sunday Times section!

I still want one though.

bah - what would he know, he's bloody past it:)

Thing is the 335i is ripe for a bit of turbo fettling, i'm sure we will see the likes of DMS fiddling and maybe producing up to 380-400 bhp woth torque to match. will make a lovely driving machine i would imagine and possibly a match for the new M3 (possibly)

Matteeboy 03 January 2007 11:25 AM

At the moment, I have a sneaking feeling that the 335i will actually be a better car than the new M3 overall.

I just think a V8 in a 3 series is wrong - Not sure why but it's just an opinion!

645 03 January 2007 06:50 PM

The new V8 is going to be stunning - more compact than the straight six, and a sound to die for! Ignore the original poster's link to Car Mag - these are proven to be Photoshops. Lots of low down torque, and BMW's new V8's can rev'd like a six. Splendid!

As for the looks - just go back to the forums and see what people were saying about the current M3 before its release - lots of dodgy p/shops around, and people moaning about "blander" looks...didn't turn out that way though. I personally think it'll look stunning and a real "grower"...can't wait to test one!

Getting bifg power out of the 335i will be a very hard and expensive task.

I see my fair share of new 3er coupes in london and I must say the E46 was alot more special. The new 3er looks a bit japanese.

Yes,though DMS Remaps are notoriously expensive at around £600 (especially to those that have just forked out 35k on a car),and as everyone know's,the difficulty rating of plugging a laptop into a diagnostic port is as hard as chewing granite isn't it :lol1: .

Well done matey:thumb: .

Shark Man 04 January 2007 01:23 AM

New M3 will be too lardy, like the old one. 3 series chassis, like its e46 predacessor is already dynamically compromised as it is.

There are only 5 decent Ms made

E30 M3 EVO
E28 M5
E34 M5
E39 M5
E46 M3 CSL (purely due to the CSL tweeks)

Any other M isn't worth sniffing at unless used for meer posing purposes

The e60 M5 is also good but only suitable for Star Trek gurus
