Heat shield

Finally found the annoying clanging and rattling that made the car sound buggered,it was the turbo heat sheild.I have removed it now,is that OK or will it throw up later probs?

because of the large amounts of heat coming from the turbo, you may have a problem with the brake and possibly the clutch master cylinders, what with them being so close.

I managed to burst the power steering hose due to the heat from the un-shielded turbo. That was bad, but the mess made by the super heated hydraulic fluid spraying across a hot turbo caused flames, melting plastic and melted electircal connectors

My car is LHD so not sure if there is a different location to the UK cars (would seem logical) - and it was also on a trackday with 47C air temps

The turbo gets unfeasibly hot, and has the ability to melt all sorts of plastic around it.

I would strongly recommend fixing and re-installing the heat shield
