Thieving Petrol Station Owners

After being stupid enough to run my car down real low on fuel i had no option but to call at a BP garage, i thought its worth a try as i usually use V Power. I start putting the fuel in untill i notice 106p per litre. Once i spotted this i stopped and paid my £5.

Back to V Power at 94p

Anyone else have garages that take the piss

speye91 01 December 2006 08:14 PM

My local BP were robbing me blind to,£1.09.9 Per litre.

They have now closed and Tesco have bought the garage.Cheap Tesco fuel soon.:D

theboy 01 December 2006 08:16 PM

I have never run car on Tesco fuel, is it any good?

vava voom 01 December 2006 08:18 PM

Ive ran my GTR and all my scoobies on tesco 99 ron and its spot on...plus very cheap!:luxhello:

shustir 01 December 2006 08:19 PM

Cant say I notice any difference between V Power or Tesco 99.

BigAl024 01 December 2006 08:20 PM

There is a 6p a litre difference between my local Shell station, and the next one(15miles away). Robbin barstewards

theboy 01 December 2006 08:23 PM

I might have to try Tesco then, i suppose as long as its not running on normal unleaded it should be ok

pslewis 01 December 2006 08:24 PM

Sainsburys Super for 86p :thumb:

GC8 01 December 2006 08:27 PM

Even Sainsbury take the piss now... 95RON fuel costs 84.9 p per litre at Meadowhall and only 83.9 p per litre at my local station at Archer Road, they dont sell SUL though. Sainsbury in Derby is cheaper still. F*ckers!

SCD Simon 01 December 2006 09:00 PM

Posted this on another BP thread about 2 weeks ago

Was in the wifes 206 last weekend and filled up at a BP and as i was putting in NUL at 84.9p per litre i noticed they had SUL (not ultimate) at a reasonable 104.9 p per litre

It's bleedin robbery

Makes me fekkin cross, there's no real reason for petrol prices being different over 90% of the UK.

OK, you might expect to pay a bit more in Penzance or Wick, but you get the idea.

Round here, I can almost SEE the refineries at Immingham and Killinghome, less than 20 miles away, but we have some of the dearest fuel around.

Robbers, like has already been posted.

Think I paid 91.9 last week for V-Power :) Had to travel 10 miles to get the stuff though :(

Quick question regarding Tesco fuel - On other forums i've been on in the past they have said stay away from supermarket fuel as some times it's not as good quality as it should be. The wife has been using their unleaded in her car while Tesco's have had the 5p off promotion running. She occasionally notices a loss of power and a slight splutter, could it be the fuel that's causing this? Her car is only 18 months old. Does cheaper fuel mean poorer quality? Anyone else had problems?

ive had no problems with tesco 99 in my sti or my previous wrx, good stuff and good value as faras im concerned!

theboy 02 December 2006 11:27 AM

I thought Supermarket fuels where just the big companies rebadged fuel??

mgcvk 02 December 2006 11:58 AM

Tesco 99 is made specifically for Tesco with a bit of beetroot juice in it as well (well some sort of ethanol) meant to be a guaranteed 99 ron. Do Jet do a 99 ron then??

misty 02 December 2006 01:53 PM

I must admit to being a fuel freak having only ever put shell petrol in my cars. Thought I'd give Tesco's 99 a go! Seemed ok, went back to shell for the next tank. Well it may have been me but, the car seemed far better with Tesco's than it did with shell!!! It seemed a lot smoother throughout the rev range for some reason. So it's Tesco's all the way for me, and a nice 6p/litre saving to boot.

I can see them from mine, Buncefield opposite me, less than 1/2 a mile. But still find Tesco 99ron upto 10p a litre cheaper  Have 2 Shells round here just over a mile appart, 2p a litre difference :wonder:

Have not got a Sainsbury's close to me but know a few people that use without any complaints :thumb:

Tesco's 99 definately seems to spice things up a bit with my WRX.

BP Ultimate is cr*p as far as I'm concerned.... over priced and doesn't seem to be any better than the 95 RON Sainsburys stuff I was forced to put once.

Yes... well they do at a station near Grantham... And my car has not run as smooth for months..! perhaps a coincidence, but 3/4 of a tank full later, Its still running sweet..
