Poor cold starting when stood an hour, puff of smoke from exhaust
When car has stood an hour or so, and is still hot or cooled down, it takes 5 seconds of crankingto start up.
Then runs rough for 5 - 10 seconds, and if throttle blipped it clears the rough running and puffs out a bit of grey / blue smoke. Pulled plugs tonight and no. 4 looked oily for about 4 threads depth ( others ok ). Would this be caused by fuel or oil seepinginto the cylinderwhen stood? What would need to be done? Thanks |
Does it start up rough from cold, or is it just when its been running?
If its when its just been running & left to stand for a while it could be the ecu temp sensor thats faulty. I had a golf gti that started fine when it was cold but when it was warm it told the ecu that the engine was cold therefore making it overfuel & difficult to start. It started when you put your foot on the accelerator but it let out a puff of grey smoke ie fuel then it ran fine. If it was this then it'd show up on a diagnostic code reader, so would be probaly worth while calling in at a garage & getting it checked out. |
Was due to leaking injector seals putting extra petrol in one cylinder... not good!
