Is the STI WR1 the technically best standard scoob ?

Just wondered as I read something saying they were the fastest scoobys produced.....

Depends if you mean UK car or not ?

Spec C would be my choice.

I read the WR1 is a standard 320bhp, thtas what made me wonder. I know you shouldn't believe all you read though...:wonder:

What power output is the Spec C ? I guess both cars probably have the ICI turbo to acheive higher output?

Not sure if I have heard of the type R ?

according to the guy who was on the team developing the wr1 they had to ring the neck out of it to achieve 320 and it was only 305 on a normal day . his words not mine .

S202, S203 and S204 all produced 320ps out of the factory (wr1 needed the PPP to produce 320ps), the Spec C produces around 300-320bhp out of the box, its also 120kg lighter than a wr1 and is technically more advanced in many ways (engine and transmission oil coolers, larger ported headers, equal length headers, twin scroll turbo etc etc etc).
Fastest production scooby? possably the S202, 320ps and in a spec c shell, I dont have any figures on the car though and dont know where there are any but theoretically..... (the S203 and S204 were both based on the heavier STi).

Both have different turbo's, the Spec C runs an IHI VF36 twin scroll unit low friction rollerbearing unit, the WR1 runs an IHI VF35 sleeve bearing unit as per similar UK STi's.

The advantage being the sleeve type bearings are a damn sight more reliable:)

Theoretically both should have the same sort of wear rate, if anything the one with the less area of contact should last longest (roller) in practice....
