Of all the Evo's to get the 320 is proberbly the best value for money. It's can be tuned very easily. Also with the IX coming out the VIII value has dropped.
Browns of Preston has a similar one in for £21999 but it has more miles on.
For a dealer price I would say it's a good one.

Just see if it's got any audio in as this comes extra on the Evo's.

deano 22 September 2006 10:21 AM

Way overpriced.

I bought a brand new 9GT in June for £24k otr. That version 8 MR is worth 19k imho.

MattW 22 September 2006 02:00 PM

Yup stick with a 9 if you can, that looks OTT IMO as well. The 8's have really taken a hammering on their values.

misty 22 September 2006 02:27 PM

Browns of preston have my old V in r3 ufo...top V for someone there!!!

You will find the same with the 9 as the 8, your not driving the car, the car is driving you.

Tony:)

sti-04!! 23 September 2006 12:17 AM

I think you might have hit the nail on the head Tony. Will see how the IX drive goes ..... if not to plan then its either a 25 or a Spec C RA if theres any on the market, though i dont want to pay 40k for the new 25.

I bought a IX FQ340 at 6 months old with 4000 miles for £25000 privately. 1 owner, immaculate. Extras included - boost controller, remap, fuel pump, boost gauge, mats, stereo and speakers, carbon mirrors/vortex generator, full 3" exhaust, 18" wheels with new tyres. Also the original wheels and exhaust system were included. I do think I got a bargain.

Did you think to yourself though 'why is the owner getting rid after only 6 months?'

I'm not saying that you should have been suspicous re the car itself but it seems to me that a lot of people buy them and get rid after a very short time. He obviously spent some £££ on it as well so why didn't meet his requirement?

THis is the 1 thing that puts me off Evo (The only thing) I think that people buy the fantasy and realise that it's not what it is cracked up to be.

Robocop 23 September 2006 09:38 AM

There's a IX FQ320 over on the MLR for £21.5k

That's just Evo's is it? Why then is every showroom in the country filled with 1 owner 3-4-5-6 month old cars? I bought a brand new coopers s back in 2002. Had it 5 months lost interest in it's girly looks so sold it! Bought a brand new wrx, had that 5 months, got fed up of how slow it was so sold it. Bought a civic type r, sold that after 12 weeks.....Get the picture? Just because there are cars that have done little mileage and been owned for a short time, doesn't mean you have to be suspicious of them! Just be thankful you're saving the big bulk of his depreciation....
dave

Varboy 23 September 2006 05:19 PM

You have missed my point, I am not suspicious of the individual car more the brand.

I get fed up easily though I must confess not as easily as you....

Saying that I've had the scoob a year and though I urges to change it, I don't think I will for a while yet.

Someone tell me I'm wrong please, I'd rather want an Evo than not...

misty 23 September 2006 06:45 PM

I've never had the urge to get another scoob! It would be such a let down after the Evo..I will probably get something else but defo not a scoob!!!
dave.

john banks 23 September 2006 06:59 PM

Varboy, he was starting a new business and wanted the money. When I spoke to him a month or two later he wanted it back.

You can get a brand spanker GSR for the same price now http://www.carplanetltd.co.uk/NEWEVO9GSRSILVER3.html

Yeah but arent they direct imports from Japan?

Blueblaster 24 September 2006 09:58 AM

Whatever you do don't buy a new EVO unless you are certain you are going to keep it for a long time. While buying my STI all the dealers said no one wants EVOs as trade ins. If you are going to change to another car soon after the EVO then maybe you should add the OTT depreciation to the purchase price and see what it's real cost is. It could well be cheaper for you to buy something far more expensive but with better residuals. For example, and this is just an example, buy a Boxster with the right spec and you could run it for a year at probably less cost than the EVO despite it having a much higher list price. Good luck

Yes, that's why I said GSR and not FQ.

Yes and thats why they are so cheap - so not the bargain you make out. Down on power, different spec, harder to insure...

Whats the warranty worth on these machines? Their 2nd value will take a hit so what you save on the buy you probably lose when you get rid. No thanks I'll stick with my MR.

The only difference between that car and a IX 300 is a rear fog light and some boot badges.

The only difference between that car and a IX 32O is a rear fog light, some boot badges, air filter, HKS hard pipe kit and a different back box.

I know where I'd spend my £21k and it wouldn't be with Mitsi UK.

1.Imports are not down on power! An Evo VIII jdm is the same power as a "uk" FQ 300.
2.They are not harder/dearer to insure! I know I've had both!
3.The spec is the same wherever they come from now!

Say what you like, but their 2nd hand value is less. As for Warranty and stuff, look at the motorpoint cars that have had issues.
