I realise that this is probably heresy ( - a bit like disabling the Bright switch? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif ), but is it possible to remove the cup holder in the central armrest box thingy? Methinks the box might be a bit more useful if you could actually put stuff in it! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Pete,

I removed mine by gently prising it out with a small electrical screwdriver and managed not to break it either (the cup holder, I mean, not the screwdriver. Now I can fit cans of de-icer etc so it's much more useful http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Yep, its pretty easy to remove.
You can also install the MY99-on cupholder near the dash vents if you haven't already got one there - about £12 from a Subaru dealer.

Raymond,

When you say that you prised it out, do you mean that it's not actually fixed to anything, ie, it's only a push fit?

Tony,

It's a MY00, so I've got one already, thanks. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif It's still pretty useless though, IMO, but at least that one doesn't take up any space. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Pete,

It's quite obvious when you look closely at it.You have to prise the centre part out of its runner/guide - the bit that it slides up and down as you open and close it. Think I'd better stop there......... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

The runners have two small screws holding them in, too. Remove them and you can fit many, many minidiscs in there http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

And, thinking of more heresy, my Bright button is giving its life to be the power switch for my MP3 player http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif. Will my membership status be revoked?

Raymond,

Many thanks for the info. If it's fine this weekend, I'll have a close look at it and see if I can remove it ( - without breaking it!).

Pete
