Why would you need to routinely fingerprint 7 year olds?

If you have nothing to hide, can you send me your finger prints on an acetate please I can make good use of them. Oh and if you want to send me you credit card numbers, expiry dates etc I can find a use for those as well. :thumb:

So the Government can get all your information on record. How dare we as citizens have a right to Freedom ?

They can't make us Adults routinely give our fingerprints / DNA, but do it to our kids at school where the Parents have no idea, and you get all the information you need.

I have nothing to hide. I'm not a criminal, have never murdered anyone (yet) but if I was asked by a copper to give my fingerprints for no apparent reason, I'd refuse.

It is those with a nice clean record that have the most to fear and the most to lose. I work in IT and I know how easily systems can be compromised, even if the system is incredibly secure, you still have a weak point where people interact with the system. The identities of people that are good law abiding citizens are the ones that will sell at a premium. Identity theft is happening now, we want to be storing less personal information on computers not more.

I have a vague recolection of having my fingerprints took at infant school (along with all the other kids) That was over 20 years ago, so its not a new thing.

Well they did the whole school, every fat little finger, so I think they must have been recorded.

Being the angel I am I have never been in trouble with plod so I have never had reason to find out. (I have helped with enquirys before :norty: )

About time someone clamped down on the little feckers.... :thumb:

Iwan 18 August 2006 06:23 PM

Meh, I think cutting off their fingers would be more appropriate for some.

Get all the information you need now, ie fingerprints, DNA. Then in years to come introduce the ID cards. They already have lots of information, so all they have to do is invoice you for the card.

Reduces the cost of getting everyones fingerprints, DNA later.

Refuse to allow your son to have his fingerprints taken. See what they say. He's not a criminal so they have no rights to take his fingerprints, and they are not the Police. Refuse.

Labours back door attempts to get everyones information.

DCI Gene Hunt 05 September 2006 03:06 PM

Data Protection Act anyone?.............;)

lightning101 05 September 2006 03:11 PM

Handy if the little ****s vandalise your car though :)

boomer 05 September 2006 11:25 PM

Interesting post on this at NO2ID!!!

...but sadly the government will keep on trying, spending our money until they eventually get a working "Library System" :(

Then they will scale it up for adults, but this time it might cost a little more (and take a little longer)

There are distant plans for a complete UK DNA database, mind you if you have nothing to hide .....................

Leslie 07 September 2006 11:41 AM

They don't take any action for vandalism any more, its only the electorate who have to suffer after all.

I think this is a travesty of our future freedoms. They have no right to take our biometric details in such an underhand way. OllyK is right, it is a gross danger to those of us who have nothing to hide. That is the most stupid excuse to make for their transgressions. As DCI says, "1984" is on the horizon.

Les :(
