And I thought my 1 series was ugly

lightning101 01 August 2006 02:17 PM

£24,011.5 (we won't get it that cheap) for 265 ps which is the same as a standard STi at £21,835.74 new

richs2891 01 August 2006 02:19 PM

I quite like that - lets hope it a better drive than the current one

Richard

Tim-Grove 01 August 2006 02:20 PM

looks a nice mota:thumb:. ive always like audis:)

C2forWRX 01 August 2006 02:33 PM

that is sexy as fook. still wait for the RS though

RS Grant 01 August 2006 02:33 PM

I'm sure residuals will be just sliiiiiightly better than an Impreza and the interior/general build quality is a couple of leagues above the Subaru too... Remember that a £500 remap will boost that power considerably to a reliable level, at least, it has on previous Turbo'd VAG products and I dont see that changing now. With 290-300bhp, I'm sure it'll be plenty nippy.

Looks miles better than a 1-series.. I dont like the wheels, but apart from that, looks fine to me. :)

Cheers,
Grant

What's that got to do with anything?

They're not the same sort of car at all.

Bit like comparing a 3.0 litre Vectra with a 3.0 litre 5 series and asking why there is a price difference when the BHP is similar.

Do you read post in full or just skip to the best bits ?

He said "run scoobies run", it was in answer to that. Surely the people that will buy audis will continue to buy audis for the refinement and build and others will buy subarus for the cheapest thrill available.

C2forWRX 01 August 2006 02:36 PM

it will be 29k

TimmyboyWRX 01 August 2006 02:44 PM

i like the looks, and the power, but itl be pricey and is it still FWD?

In a way yes! as it is haldex 4wd which only kicks in when a wheel slips - i think:wonder: correct me if i'm wrong

Duck_Pond 01 August 2006 02:48 PM

Looks good - would like to see a front-on shot, to see how wide and aggressive it looks. Very understated as usual though. Could do with larger alloys on it. :) I hope the engineers behind the RS4 have worked their magic with this one's handling too.

AudiLover 01 August 2006 02:50 PM

If its anything like the NEW TT it will be magnificient

stilover 01 August 2006 03:11 PM

I think it looks really good. Like the alloys.

£24,000 ?????????? More like £30k + extra's. Call it £35K easily.
Power is a disapointment. Was hoping for 300 BHP at least. At least this leaves plenty of room for a RS3. Now that I would consider !!

When they get to dealers, I'll go for a test drive.

AudiLover 01 August 2006 03:19 PM

there might be a 350bhp RS version, as there will be a RS version TT except it wont have RS in its name. The engine is a 2.5 5cylinder engine audi are working on.

As does an EcuTEK remap for the same money! Slightly better residuals but ****e dealer service (as mentioned on here a number of times).:norty:

Duck_Pond 01 August 2006 03:24 PM

So, will the S40 be traded in for one? ;)

That said, a mate of mine has had the new C70 for the last couple of days (folding hard-top) and that is the dogs... :thumb:

AudiLover 01 August 2006 03:26 PM

volvo's are cool :D

Gonna get a audi soon, but gonna wait for the new A4 and A5 to appear first.

Duck_Pond 01 August 2006 03:31 PM

And the new A3 sized Volvo looks smart too. Should be interesting with the 2.5 turbo engine in it.

AudiLover 01 August 2006 03:35 PM

yeah athat would be a real sleeper as the non enthiusiasts would be never expecting anything from it. :D

So does the RS4, but it's anything but `normal`

I wouldn't want to spend £30k on a car and then risk it's warranty and residual value by getting it "chipped"!

The whole package does look very nice though. I wonder what it weighs?

Steve

The fwd weighs in at 1470kg so looks like its gonna be a bit overweight

Steve vRS 01 August 2006 04:28 PM

The old S3 was 1375kg so this one is bound to be heavier. Cars aren't getting lighter.

Steve
