Which table saw?
Looking for a table saw for doing household projects, anybody got any recommendations. Looking for a reasonable sized table with a budget of up to £400 or so - cheaper is fine ;)

Rutlands (www.rutlands.co.uk I think) have some decent stuff at pretty competitive prices.
I'd say might be worth avoiding the Fox stuff (it is cheap), we tried some of it at work, and we came to the conclusion that you get what you pay for... HTH. John. |
Cheers - but unless I'm missing something, Fox is the only one they do - looks nice in the picture, but don't they all?
Been looking at some of the SIP kit, been impressed with the mitre saw I had from them. Also some of the stuff from Axminster. Has anybody used either of these and can comment? |
Aldi are advertising one on their website for £69.99-it says 1500w and 10 " blade-or is this too cheap?

Thats a fair budget, how about this? :
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...18676&ts=62888 or this? : http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...23021&ts=62840 Both a take on combination table saws, not a massive depth of cut though, which may (or may not) be a drawback, I have used the 711 before and it def has some balls behind it. This is a little over budget but a dedicated saw: http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...79902&ts=63097 In my exp SIP is more geared toward the light home user, very cheap and wont last with any kind of constant use. That being said, I used a SIP compund sliding mitre saw commercialy for a year with no major problems. |

Just wondering if I may be better to hold off a while and go for one of the big beasties. |

Try Costco, I got the Bosch Gts 10 (£560 in Screwfix) for £235. I think it's end of line so you may need to look around for a store with one left.
