Falkland Performance quote £130+vat WITH spark plugs. Any point in doing them yet? or £90+vat without.

I would rather Falkland did it, but don't think a prospective purchaser might agree and would want to see main dealer stamps. Funny that - the best service I have ever had for anything has been at independents, but I guess the quality is more variable - ie some are quite good rather than them all being a bit lame like most of my main dealer experiences so far from Peugeot, Fiat, Ford and Subaru.

AF Noble Penicuik £149.89 inc VAT 2h (£86+VAT bodywork)
Town & County Perth £175.29 inc VAT (would eventually pricematch)

Is the first one a decent quote then? Impressed with them before, more so than T&C.

Not going to bother with bodywork as Euro import.

Do Euro imports come with the same undersealing when new or do IM do a bit more?

Do you always get charged for refilling the washer bottle!?

Hi John

You could try AWD in Perth (01738 633336). I havent used them but a lot of people have and have been very pleased. Another good thing is the work they do does not invalidate the Subaru warranty.

Thanks Ian. They quote £152.75 inc VAT. Looks like I'll end up using Nobles.

John,

Bit out your way :) but 15000 @ Cheam Motors £100 + VAT (incl. SIDC discount). Had mine done on Tuesday. They said not to bother with underseal on Euro imports. Get it checked at 3 years if you're going to hang onto it.

I only realised I was charged for topping up the washer bottle after I was home, when I had my MY99 30k mile service. Bit narked (and wondered what expensive stuff they claimed to have used to fill it?) because I'd had to fill it up the morning I took it in...

hi i am intrigued why "not bother on euro imports" is that about warrenty and saving cash or are they better protected?
just curious as i have a euro parelell import.

A bit galling shelling out £175 for something you could do yourself for around £35 (oil and filter) The money we pay for just the stamp in the book!

Most folk agree that £100 for a usually poor underseal job is only to preserve the UK 6 year anticorrosion/perf. warranty. If I wanted it undersealed I would get a specialist to do it, but as it is the underseal all looks sound except where I had to jack up the car to do the brake pads now and again, but the underlying paint is healthy so I'm not concerned.

Navigator,

As John says, it only need to be done to keep the UK 6 year anti-corrosion warranty. Cheam checked the underseal at the service, said it was OK so no need to do anything.

John,

Nobles do a 10% SIDC discount these days.

john banks 02 November 2001 06:10 PM

Thanks GM. 135 then which is pretty good for main dealer.

Robertio 02 November 2001 06:27 PM

John, I paid £154.64 back in June for mine (Aird Motors, Beauly) first time I've checked the invoice, the service was £93+VAT Oil: £22.28 + VAT, oil filter: £10.12 +VAT, with the usual screen wash, etc. making up the rest.

TonyBurns 02 November 2001 06:49 PM

The Body service should be done, its not just for uk cars its for euro cars too as it invalidates the manufacturers anti corrosion warranty, thus if your car has a rust patch on it and hasnt had it done they dont have to repair it for you....

Tony
