Water expands when it gets hot.

Id be worried if the pipes didnt have fluid in them, thats a warning sign of air in the system, yours sound ok.

When O/E pipes are old, they sometimes balloon before they fail. This is because one or more of the layers of the pipe has/have failled.
Typically your cooling system will work at 10 psi so to see it is under that level of pressure is normal. Sometimes when you squash one of these pipes when it is dry it will "crunch2 This is because the woven re-enforcing is breaking up through age. |
I agree with Harvey, I have found from my experience that when the rad has gone, the hoses soon follow (top rad and bottom rad)

the hoses are 1 yr old samco jobbies ??
