500 miles a week in a modded Subaru
I am looking for a subaru for my daily commute to work, 500 miles a week, c 26000 miles a year.
I am getting a selection of good uk cars and highly moddied versions, which I prefer, but worried about reliability with this sort of mileage. Advice gratefully received. I'm have little technical knowledge so I am totally reliant on someone else doing the servicing etc for me, and so should I opt for the safer route of a standard car and then mod myself thru TSL or similiar. But this is likely to be expensive than buying one that has had the work already doen. |
TBH mate this sounds like a bad plan.
With that kind of milage you should be getting an old banger/diesel car for your commute and something fun like a Scooby for the weekends. If a car has been correctly modified they can handle high mileage without undue reliability woes. Would you really be benefitting from the performance of the car on a commute though..rush hour trafic etc.... You'd also need to take into acccount running costs, which will be very significant with this mileage. Edit: Just seen another one of your posts: looks like you run several performance cars like this: apparently you're not hard up for a penny or two!! :D Ns04 |
I do about 15k per year in my modded STI. If you are going to be driving allot, it might as well be in a nice car!!!
I get a fuel card from my work which is probably why I can do this though!!! No problems with the car appart from rear shockers (warranty) |
