Bloody ages. about 3-4 times as long as the water temp.

A lot longer than you may think.
The best thing I ever bought was an Oil Temp gauge. I have a 4 mile commute to work (taking 8 minutes) and the oil temp has only reached 70 degrees. Martin |

Well i used to have a Focus st which had an oil temp gauge in as factory fitment,i could see that it took a fair amount of time to get to temp, this would be about 3 miles in distance though.
Now i let the scoob warm up for say 3-4mins and after about 10 more mins i have, on ONLY one or two occasions booted it but not for a long time nor a too long a distance but i have touched on 5000 RPM. Do you think i have shortened the life of my engine by much? |
Had an M3 previously, which had a oil temp gauge. It took approx 10 minutes or 5 miles to get up to temp.
