GC8 refers to the classic shape impreza, GDA/GDB are the new age cars. You are correct your car is a GC8.

Unless he's got a wagon, in which case it's a GF8. :)

celt_13 26 February 2006 06:21 PM

So what MY is mine then if it was registered in 98? MY99?

slammedmind 26 February 2006 06:24 PM

my98 i believe

celt_13 26 February 2006 06:31 PM

So up to now with all this jargon, I've established that I have a my98 with GC8 engine? My next question is, which manifold would you recomend I go for as I have a hole in the pipe that runs along the bottom near the front by the radiator??????

slammedmind 26 February 2006 06:34 PM

engine is ej20, chassis is gc8 (classic). Syms mani all the way!!!!!!!

banny sti 26 February 2006 06:35 PM

If you are going aftermarket then i would recommend a gruppe s v2 manifold or you could get a standard ported manifold from harvey. If you car has minor mods then the second option is the one i would go for.

celt_13 26 February 2006 06:38 PM

thanks for that! I've been looking at some magnex manifolds! got demon tweeks just round the corner to us so I've been dealing with them a fair bit!!!!

Some 'S' regs. are MY '99s - mine, for instance. I'm not sure which month the Model Year runs from. :)

banny sti 26 February 2006 06:40 PM

I think its sept to sept, my sti is a MY97 but was made 96/10.

Who is Harvey?

banny sti 26 February 2006 06:49 PM

Harvey Smith, if you use the search function you will find his details.

celt_13 26 February 2006 06:53 PM

what price would I be looking at for the second option you suggested?

banny sti 26 February 2006 06:55 PM

You are best speaking to Harvey he will break the cost down for you and he also offers a fitting service too.

celt_13 26 February 2006 06:58 PM

I've just put a search in and I found a post that said he was off sick and not been on the boards for a while, any idea of his number? Thanks!!!:notworthy

gc8 chassis and an ej20 engine it is a 2litre 4 cam 16v turbo

GC8 27 February 2006 12:53 AM

'GC8' is a Japanese chassis prefix and it relates to all 2 litre two door or four door saloons; both turbo-charged and normally-aspirated.

I was expecting this thread to be about me.....
