Drivers for DVD-ROM/RW drives ?. Must be a steam powered PC. P`N`P is a wonderful thing however have a look here:

The only drivers you'll ever need for that would be a dos aspi driver

Why do you need a windows driver  If the bios detects it, it will be installed automatically by windows on boot up.

pc is 18months old..

it detects it, but says that it has issues.. thought i would be able to download a new driver from the web ??

2000 sport 14 February 2006 11:00 AM

getting this message on both drives..

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

lightning101 14 February 2006 11:09 AM

Normally a code 41 is this:

Recommended resolution

A driver was loaded but Windows cannot find the device. This error occurs when Windows does not detect a non-Plug and Play device.

If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, install the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. If the hardware was not removed, obtain a new or updated driver for the device.

If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

2000 sport 14 February 2006 11:35 AM

says on the lite-on site that it just uses the standard windows driver, going to remove the extra cd drive and try to get somewhere with it?

2000 sport 14 February 2006 11:51 AM

removed the extra drive and returned to standard,

removed the old drivers, and reinstalled them..

still getting the smae error code, and it is loading up 4 drivers, 3 of which are H + H scsi dvdrom device
the other being the ltc 48161H

no idea what to with it now..
